Am I the only one? i have tried Crome, and Safari with my high speed modem no problems with any other web sights.

I am in Chicago as well. The forum is fine. Nothing wrong with it. Check your connection to the internet.

I would recommend snuggling up with the homeless people at your local public library when you need to get your Vortex on, that's what I do. No problems here, except the stench.

I'm using Safari on my Mac, no real problems here, but once in a blue moon it seems the servers are too busy and it times out. I'd say that happens once a month or so (granted, that is more frequently than once a blue moon), so I don't think it's Safari.

    Good luck.

I'm pretty sure there is a script that times out every once in a while.

    Open Firefox
    Open Firebug
    Watch response times.
    Discover issue.

I know several forums I go to have really slow load times, all of which are because of the ads they have on the pages.

Have you tried firefox with ad block plus?

Coming from someone who works on servers every day for a living, I can assure you it probably isn't server-related. A website of this magnitude will have the proper hardware necessary to support it. This is a client issue.

I agree with the post above. Ads will slow you down. Try an ad blocker add-on on your browser of choice. Your connection speed will have a lot to do with this, as well as the time of day. If you're trying to connect to vwvortex.com at 3:00 on a Friday when all of the little kiddies get out of school, you're gonna have a bad time. If you have any toolbars or whatever on your browser, you're asking for trouble. And of course, if the forum is just really busy, it will be slower. It happens with any website.

If you're getting a connection message like you just posted, clear your cache and try again.

Google it, it's actually pretty easy. You can try using Google's DNS server as your primary DNS, which is 8.8.8.8, and then use your current one as your secondary DNS. Just do a quick search for "how to change dns server ip address [operating system here]"

Sometimes this forum is very very slow...

I can post a reply and it just cranks and cranks- I can right click open the thread in another tab and see my posted reply when the original reply screen is still just cranking as though the reply has not posted yet.
I have had this issue before and it seemed to correct itself.
    What is wrong?

Maybe BReal doesn't get that those aforementioned things are integrated as part of the forums (and as such prevent the forum pages from loading properly if stalled), but communicate with 3rd party servers?

If you watch at the bottom of your browser when it's stalled you'll likely see a url containing one of the things Rich! made mention of. Lately I've found typekit to be the worse offender.

Ok. I'll try that next time.

But it started working fine again and has been since. (shrug)

    Sigh.. sad but true.

Should I use some type of ad block to keep things from loading?
But ad block... IDK. Loading the ads seems like a minimum cost for using this forum.
