Hi, Thanks for checking out my FS Thread. Please do me and yourself a favor and read everything before you submit a question.

      Respectfully,

      -Paul

Back story is that while I was slowly getting my 78 Rabbit together, the process of getting items back from the plater and onto the car was a slow and prolonged task (8-10 year build). Years passed and I started to forget what it was to actually drive one of these beauties. While I still had dibs on a Bali Green Rabbit I was getting tired of waiting so I asked the previous owner of the Bali Green (VW89) Josh if he had any leads. Josh was in contact with me and was passing along a few nice cars in his area and had shared a listing on CL of a car that he was interested in. It was in Seattle at the actual dealer where I purchased my MKIV R32 years before. Since I lived on the east coast, I wanted to make sure that one of us (Josh or myself) had "dibs" on this car so I made a call and placed a deposit on the car. I let Josh know I had done so & if he wanted the car, he could definitely have it. I am not 100% on the exact reason he gave, but he didnt buy the car - I did.

I flew into Seattle a few weeks later to visit a few old friends for Christmas and immediately got a ride to the dealer and finalized the transaction. During this week I drove the car all over Seattle. What a great way to get around town and not having to rent a car I thought. Before I left Seattle I dropped the car off at Fine Tuning Performance, and later had Simon (2mAn) drop off the tuned up car to a DAS terminal to be shipped out east.

Story goes that the original owner (a German woman by the name of Ute) bought this car when she moved to Washington state. She had traded the car in for a new Jetta at Carter VW. I had the opportunity to talk to her recently and she was really surprised to find out that her beloved Rabbit was on the east coast.

I am the second owner of this car.

Had Chris @Fine Tuning in Seattle WA completely go through the car before I shipped this car out east.

Shipped out to MA (when I lived out in Western MA) & tossed some cheap coils & wheels on it.

Car died, thought the fuel pump took a dump, it was the points that failed. Installed a Pertronix ignitor which solved the issue.

Drove it around for a bit, enjoyed the hell out of it. Took it to New England Dustoff and won first place in the MK1/A1 category. Took it to MK1 Madness and won best of show and first place Rabbit.

Had a "friend" do some work on the car that was completely unacceptable. Not wanting to half-arse anything, I brought it in to RMA (R.Miller Autobody) for a full respray and all the rock chips and dings were removed.

Brand new fuse box (171941813B 171941821B 811941813 AKA Fuse Box B) was replaced as the original one died. No water was found around the fuse box, it was just dead.

      Car comes with:

-59,500 on original 4 spd 8v drivetrain. This will slowly creep up as I enjoy the hell out of driving her.

-completely original and unmolested seats, crackless dash (black plastic dash cover included), perfect uncut door cards, perfect headliner, perfect & original interior. When I say perfect and original, I truly mean no noticeable imperfections, cracks, tears, or wear and tear. This car looks truly as good as showroom. Please see pics for more details.

-Rear mudflaps were removed. Installation holes were closed with metal (no bondo here folks), primered and painted.

      -Bumpers are mirror polished.

-All metal trim removed, mirror polished and then replaced.

      -Fenders professionally hand rolled smooth.

-All glass pulled and new seals with all new chrome inserts used. Only issue is the driver's side pop-out window needs to be re-glued / re-sealed (common issue).

      -Maryland State Historic Plates.

-Custom narrowed ream beam with new bushings. (thanks Nick)

-Engine bay detailed (all 33 years of grease and grime removed).

-Passenger & driver side frame rails professionally notched.

-Brand new PERFECTLY REPLICATED decals by Pat from SIGNS ON TIME (GOOSLER).

-New hoses, plugs, belts, clutch cable, even a brand new fuse box.

-New Austrian front camber plates (TK Motorsports).

      -Four wheel alignment by APTuning.

-H&R UUL's installed. (less than 300 miles on them).

      -VWMS oil pan guard

      -Techtonics short shift kit.

-Techtonics exhaust with custom chromed exhaust tip.

      -NOS Postal Tail lights.

-Custom color matched internal mounted horizontal blinds imported from Australia.

-Compomotive Turbo Mag Wheels These Wheels
      --colormatched
      --chromed lips
      --15x8 ET13 up front
      --15x8 ET 0 out back
--165/45/15 with less than 400 miles on them

      KNOWN ISSUES

In an effort to show full disclosure here, here's a list of issues.
-Driver's side glue in style vent window has been reglued. several times. Just sayin'..
-Passenger side tire rubs on pasenger side rear fender. Slight paint bubble noted. Don't let this be a deal breaker. I can fix this.
      -seat belt light remains on.
-rear defroster wires were not attached to rear glass when I purchased.

      Trades such as a MK2 TT 6MT or a MK4 R32 are welcomed.

Car is currently located in Southern Maryland

      Thanks for looking,

      Paul

The full respray makes it 10000000 times better. Beautiful car
Scuba If I got in a cab and Esher was driving, I'd get right out. Then I'd ponder how drunk I was that I entered the rear of a 2dr rabbit and thought it was a cab.

F Santa! how do I get onto your Christmas list?!

As someone who bought a lot of cars over the years (20 years, 150++ MK1&MK2's) to drive and play with, I recently was in a hurry and grabbed a MK1 that was way out of my normal price range (the kind where you lie and say you paid less, so you're not judged by your friends and family...) because the previous owner did the zillion little things to it that people do when they have the cash and they think they're keeping it forever, which are things they can never really get anywhere near their time and money out of again when they go to sell the car... and I know, having done them myself over and over.

I wish there was a way I could share just how "worth it" it turned out to be, both in time, effort, money, repairs, storage, etc etc etc... plus the true fun of driving something awesome from day one. From now on, this is the type of deal I'd look for FIRST the next time I need to buy a car. I just had to say something, when I saw the price and remembering what I used to think about this level of car and price and what I think now, and how much closer to a real value I now realize something like this really is.

Bump for a super nice car and a reasonable price.
