Thread: 2012 Tiguan: LED HID Headlights retrofit

  1. 09-05-2012 08:51 AM #1
Hi Guys, this is my first post in Vortex.

I´m from Brazil, and have a 2012 Tiguan with halogen lamps. I want to put que HID and LED headlights, like this:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-original...447e4b&vxp=mtr

    But I have some doubts:

The seller say that is plug and play, but some people tell me that I need some adapters, and have to chance a central commander.

I dont need the leveling control or washers, just the HID and LEDs working as original.

Has anyone due this reto fit? Some tips?

Regards and sorry my english. I write bad, but I read well

Guessing that you swapped the originals back in before heading back to the dealer?

I've thought about going the HID route as well, but you would need to fabricate the plastic caps that cover the back opening of the headlight, amongst other things such as programming via Vag Com.

That said I ended up upgraded my low beam bulbs to Silver Star Ultra's and they are indeed a bit brighter than the stock bulbs. I'll be swapping out my DRL/High beam bulbs soon as well.

You don't need to fabricate anything. If one will follow procedure everything will work just fine. These are almost plug and play, one would need this adapter: http://www.kufatec.com/index.php?mai...roducts_id=792 and an access to vagcom to release xenons and that's all there is to it.

Why did you buy a BCM? All you needed were headlights and adapter and someone with VCDS cable to release the xenons.

Vw uses Different Cecm modules for each trim level, my S doesn't even support fog lights never mind HID's (Stupid cost cutting)

    Hi Hugo,

I am from Brazil too and I recently bought a new 2013 Tiguan and now I am looking to install the same OEM headlights with LED that you did. Can you please answer me:

    - What parts from Cables and BCM were really necessary or it was just plug and play after setting the Central Module on to Xenon function

    - Where did you executed the installation and it did not affected your warranty?

    Tks!

    Hi Hugo, just curious....
Were you able to make it work? Is everything fine now?
    Greetings from Another brazilian.

    Fabio

Remarks- I have a 2010/2011, put the equivalent Chinese ones similar to 2012 model (with LEDs) and everything worked just fine. I just had to use VCDS / VAGCOM cable to be able to activate the DRLs, as oppose to keep the parking lights on via Switch. Now trying to get the Tail lights off via VCDS, just to have front LEDs, like 2012 models.
    Abraço.
