I know they did away with the voice controlled navigation on the RNS-510 due to speed issues but do you think they are working to improve it so they could give it back to us? This feature was never enabled in my car (2012 Passat 8/12) so I never had the opportunity to tell dealer not to upgrade, which disabled the navigation voice control. It seems like such a waste of a nice system like the rns-510.
    Thanks.

    Simple to enable with VCDS.

Here is how to turn the voice commands back on:
    1. SELECT
    2. 37 NAVIGATION
    3. CODING - 07
    4. LONG CODING HELPER
    5. Highlight BYTE 7
    6. Remove check from BIT 1
    7. ESC out from this screen
    8. DO IT!
    9. Exit out of VCDS software

After you are through, I would recommend that you re-boot the Nav unit:

Press and hold these three button at the top of the Nav unit until it reboots. Should take about 15 seconds:

< > and star button (far right of DVD slot)

    Good luck!

Thanks for that. What kind of performance impact can I expect after doing this?

The voice commands seem to be hit or miss. I am actually going to turn them back off soon.

Would you be willing to provide some hit and miss specifics on the navigation voice commands? Also, what were you able to with voice commands and music? Could you say a band, playlist name or song title (like Ford's Sync)?

I don't want to find someone with the equipment to enable it only to go back to disable it a short while after. Thanks in advance.
