and I see a lot of uncertainty.
May it be the air pump?
I have been to the 30000km service last week, they changed the transmission fluid and did all the necessary tasks. They changed the spark plugs as well.
The car drives great, I dont feel any difference, except the CEL light coming on...
Any ideas on this?
Well, the MIL is set by the statutory emissions routines, not the car itself complaining.
So the scan said this:
31701 km - Engine warm, car stopped, idle - ECU#1 did not receive confirmation that the fuel trim on Bank#1 was OK or not too rich
31704 km - Engine warm, car stopped, idle - ECU#1 did not receive confirmation that the fuel trim on Bank#2 was OK or not too rich
31963 km - Engine not cold, stopped, Power Supply 11.9V - ECU#2 CAN-Bus data not received by ECU#1. MIL off.
Do you have the scan for address 11 for ECU#2?
If it was the secondary air system not running at idle, wouldn't that flag a rich mixture rather than lean? Or would the high lambda reading cause the ECU to set the trim too lean to compensate?
Both DTCs are at idle. One of the lambda trim adaptations is done at idle. But the two bank ECUs use separate lambda sensors, so there's no common mode failure to affect both banks there.
The fuel vapour purge cycle also has separate solenoids, no common mode.
The only common item in the mixture set is the engine block exit temperature sensor, but that's monitored by a look-up table so is unlikely not to be flagged.
Other than that the common item are the CAN-Bus comms (ECU) and the fuel. You didn't have a duff tank of fuel with some diesel in it?!
Thanks Chris for your answer, I had it in the Service when it was around 37000km, so the 2 events probably happened while it was at the dealer.
The last one
006435 - Please Check DTC Memory of ECU Number 2
P1923 - 008 - Implausible Signal
is interesting, because it says
RPM: 0 /min
Load: 0.0 %
Speed: 0.0 km/h
I cleared the errors, will drive around a few km, and see what happens.
Earlier I had a CEL warning saying my Bank2 catalyst was working sub-standard. Ater resetting this disappeared, the VW dealership wanted to change the exhaust en precatalysts (around 3000USD...)
I thought I was "out of the woods" but now this happened:
Wednesday,03,October,2012,21:39:08:51737
VCDS Version: Release 11.11.4
Data version: 20120807
Readiness Status: 0110 1001
Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Passed
Oxygen Sensor Heating: Failed or Incomplete
Oxygen Sensor(s): Failed or Incomplete
Air Conditioning: Passed
Seconday Air Injection: Failed or Incomplete
Evaporative Emissions: Passed
Catalyst Heating: Passed
Catalytic Converter(s): Failed or Incomplete
Should I have the repairs done as proposed by VW??? MotoTalk also mentions replacing the "flexrohre" in the exhaust system (wire-mesh fleible couplings) which (when leaking) could cause fresh air to mix with the primary exhaust gasses. Anyone have any experience with this?
