Having had a Mk-IV and a New Beetle before, I'm pretty sure there's supposed to be a trim panel covering up the space above the pedals, i.e. all that critical wiring as well as the footwell ducting shouldn't be visible. In the 1st pic you can even see the threaded holes where the attachment screws are supposed to go.

(Hard to get good photos up in there, especially with an iPhone.)
What happened? Either
1) the factory forgot (Hecho en Mexico, yo!)
2) this part is omitted for base-model Beetles (sucks to be cheap?)
3) this part is omitted for US-model Beetles (sucks to be a VW enthusiast in the USA?)
If (1) then off to the dealership we go. If (2) or (3), does anyone know the P/N?

Here's the part diagram for a 2010 New Beetle. Part #28 is missing from the 2012 Beetles. Do any US Beetles come with this? Anyone with a part number?

Hi
I want to add the chrome window bottom moulding like the tdi.
Do you have a parts picture on how the old ones come off. I want to see if they can be removed without all the hassle of the door panels.
Thanks

Very few cars built have panels covering up that stuff, since the only way you'd see it is to be lying on your back contorting yourself in an unnatural way to look up at it to see it.
Of all the cars I've had, only one has ever had panels that covered everything.
