Thread: corrado with awd?

  1. 09-08-2012 05:32 PM #1
was wondering if anyone has attempted awd in a corrado or mark 2 golf/jetta via the 01a audi quattro transmission?

reason for asking this is i am building a 16vg60 for use in my corrado and as i was doing so i am constantly reminded of my 1989 90q that has been sitting too long. (had more money into it then it was worth and stopped putting money into it) i was wondering about taking the whole quattro set up and making an awd corrado 16vg60... looking for some input on my thoughts, reasons why i should, and reasons why i should not. i work for a prototype company in the aerospace and automotive industry so i know a little bit about making 1 off parts for stuff.
i am sick of the g60 trans and was looking for some type of change from the cable shifter and i seen some youtube videos of some guy in europe with a 9 second corrado running awd but no listing on what he used for his trans... i have the 9a 2.0l 16v motor out of a 91 passat and the scirocco intake for the project. plus the bbm stage 4 lysholm set up already installed on the corrado's pg motor and a complete '89 audi 90q.
i figure with these components i should have a mean beast in the works (or just a 16vg60 fwd and a bunch of parts for sale)
    help me figure something out!!!!

The "easy" way to do this is with a B3 Passat synchro as a donor car. Then you can cut the entire rear floorpan/suspension/fueltank out of the Passat and weld it into the Corrado
