can someone correct me if im wrong but the starter solenoid on the 2.0 is actually mounted on the starter and not on the firewall someplace?

Ive been having no start issues and after replacing the battery, terminals, cables and checking all the ground wires its down to the starter or starter solenoid. Looks to me likes it mounted on the starter kinda on top of it. But the guys from the local clubs forums seem to think its on the firewall someplace.

O yea the issues is the battery slowly went bad over a week, got a new battery. Puff of smoke from under hood near battery some place but car didn't start. Checked grounds, replaced battery, terminals and wires and still nothing when I turn the key.

the guys maybe referring to a fuse or something that may have gone up in smoke. But if im not mistaken most starters have the solenoid attached.

yea pretty sure the solenoid is on the starter...that way you can jump it using a screwdriver to start your car.
