    Anyone gonna watch this??

Ive seen a bunch of commercials for this. I dunno what to make of it though...premise looks interesting but i dunno how long they can keep it going for. How long can a rogue submarine keep going

Assuming the sub is nuclear, it's gonna go like the Engergizer Bunny. The only limiting factor is the crew's endurance.

I have high hopes for this series. I understand it's from the same creator of The Shield. So I'm guessing there won't be stuff like romance and other drama. I hope.

It's now on yahoo TV: http://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/fall-tv/ex...3Rpb25z;_ylv=3

I'm gonna see if it's on ABC on-demand first.

Im in for this... I like the premise. From what Ive read, they dont stay on the sub... they end up marooned on an island.

Who watched? I'm going to say this was my favorite new show on my DVR. I hope the ratings were good.

Little rocky like most new shows, but I think it has some promise... The premise isn't entirely unoriginal so hopefully it does well. I enjoyed the first episode and will continue watching.

I was expecting Crimson Tide made for TV. But it seems like they added in some romance to broaden the appeal to a wider audience.

While I do appreciate a half nekkid Autumn Reeser, I was hoping a show just focused on the military and politics.

  11. 09-29-2012 07:52 AM #11
I liked it. Pretty much kept me entertained throughout. I think though they should have made it a 2 hour episode to even out the pace a bit. I like fast paced action-type shows, just seemed to be a bit rushed at times even for me.

As much as I liked it, I wonder how much plot material (or at least *compelling* plot material) they can have for an episodic TV show. I could see this working better as a mini series. But I guess we'll see what they come up with.

For now though, I am hooked.

I like it better than Revolution too... Though, first episode ratings were a little mediocre so I hope it can last.

Second episode was good. This is my favorite of the new shows this season but based on ratings, I do not see it lasting

I hope it does! Unfortunately I think this is a show best suited for cable programs ( i could see this being a big hit on fx). Really like this show! I tried to get through last episode of "revolution" but I couldn't lol...show is just to much cheese for me.

Revolution drives me crazy. Had so much potential but it as I noted in that thread, it seems watered down, soft and written in such a way to appease demographics that would not normally watch shows like that

i like this show... so far... probably cuz it makes my sorry ass feel like i served in the forces vicariously just by watching the show.

but there are bits and pieces that don't seem to make sense so you have to suspend belief.

    (spoilers)

like in episode one where they were about to get bombed and the captain chaplin makes the dying speech, he was about to destruct the missile... but then we learn there's really no need to destruct that nuke.

and where did they get those military jeeps from when they travel on the island?

and where is the other seal? weren't there four seals? i don't recall three dying... one's in the hospital. one got hit in the head and died. where's the last one?

Those are old Jeeps... They were probably brought there by the NATO (NATO?? Why not the UN in the middle of the Indian Ocean?) mission or by any of the inhabitants.

The US military hasn't used the JEEP since the late 70s.

They've shown one of the other SEALs recently, I guess he's not a part of the love story though...

There is one glaring error on this show. Remember when Chaplin launches the SLBM Trident missle towards DC and denotates the warhead about 200 miles offshore to show his power? Well, the Trident missle is a MIRV type missle; meaning, each missle has multiple warheads on a "bus". Typically it carries three (3) MIRVs per a missle. What happened to the other two MIRVs?

These are the new Trident (D6) missiles We can re-target that easy too and remotely destruct.

I served on two SSBNs, one 640 class and the other a 726 class. I have to look the other way when they do some stuff - like hull numbers on the sail while on patrol. The CO's stateroom wasn't that big on our boat... and a bunch of other things. I need to tell myself its just a show.

I'll keep on watching, because there's a submarine in it.

Online info says there is no D-6 variant. I'm not saying you're lying just that there is nothing out there to confirm what you are saying. Everything I'm read says the Trident II D-5 is a MIRV design with up to four (4) warheads. Key word is "up to"; meaning I guess they could only have one warhead installed. But that wouldn't make sense for a boomer. Why have such an expensive missile system on board without maximizing the payload?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UGM-133_Trident_II

    http://www.designation-systems.net/dusrm/m-96.html

    http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/usa/slbm/d-5.htm

This says the in-development E-6 model will soon replace the current D-5 model: http://www.missilethreat.com/missile...ile_detail.asp

Regardless, it's still a fun show to watch.

Why doesn't the government send in B2 stealth bombers or perhaps cruise missiles like a Tomahawk to take out the sub when it's surfaced in the lagoon at the island? If they were so determined to kill Chaplin and the crew why not use the advanced weapons at their disposal? I doubt they'd be concerned with radiation leakage from the reactors or setting off the SLBM warheads (that wouldn't happen anyway due to the inherent safety features of the warhead design).

    Just sayin'...

Not lying, but it was a joke. Sorry if I mislead you... I don't discus submarine operations or capabilities - even if I can find this information on the web.

I look at this show the same as a doctor or lawyer looks at a show like House or LA Law. I guess it is made to entertain you and you have to look beyond the tech they use.

Because they can track ANYTHING from that NATO station. Look how good they were able to help navigate the boat through the canyon from that station.

I thought a SEAL team could disable the boat easily. But, that would make for a short season.

Best episode so far. See how better the series is without the drug dealer and minimal silliness with the SEAL and the bar keep.

Looks like Grace Shepard finally got some respect from the T-1000.
