Just curious if anyone gets flu shots here or vaccinations in general....

I just did all my vaccinations after finding out my mom FORGOT when I was a kid.... awesome. However, I don't do the flu shot.... the one time I did I had such a bad reaction to it and was sick for almost a month. Never again!

Me and every other person in this country who works for a healthcare provider gets a flu shot every year. It's that or wear a mask to work.

Never had any issue with with the flu shot, but I also haven't had any illness outside a couple bouts of food poisoning over the past 20 years.

I guess lucky for me I'm not working in an industry that requires me to have a flu shot. I was working for the ME's office years ago and had to get vaccinated against all sorts of weird stuff but they never required a flu shot.

Never been sick either, aside from that horrible reaction to the shot a while back. Nope. Never again!

Most everyone I know gets flu shots. I never did until two years ago and I never had the flu worse than that year. Never had one since- must to the disappointment of our pediatrician.

I'd say with the people I know they're 50/50. My mother is always badgering me to get one because I do spend a lot of time around her and my father who is in failing health but I'm stubborn.

I never get them and neither do my kids - it's never been an issue. My wife gets hers every year because she's a type 1 diabetic, but that's it. My main reasons are (1) that while I may get sick every year, I rarely get the flu and that's even when I was exposed to the dregs of society and (2) almost everyone that I've known who gets it almost always immediately get sick with, guess what? The flu. I swear everyone that I know who gets the shot is sick within a week with the flu. Might not be 100% across the board, that's just from my own experiences. My kids don't get them either and they've been fine for the last 6 & 8 years respectively.

While the vaccine won't provide 100% protection from the ful, you can't get the flu from the vaccination.

This is true but you can have some horrid reactions to it.

Yeah, that's what they say - but I stand by what I said. Like clockwork, everyone I've known who has gotten it is usually sick within a week. I'm just saying

    Yep, this.

The one time I decided to bite the bullet and get one, I got sick.

I generally don't like to get the shot because I DID get sick after I got the darn thing on two occasions :rolleyes

I generally only get sick 1x/year in the winter, same with my husband.

I have had the flu twice though and I admit...I thought I was dying. It was the worst that I've ever felt and I wouldn't wish it on anyone (104 degree fever, aches, pains, chills, throwing up, etc). Both times I got it, I was working full time - the worst time when I was exposed to a bunch of inmates from jail.

I never got the flu shot. I got all my other shots when I was a kid. I remember trying to run out of the doctor's office after I saw the doc put the needle into my sister. I almost made it except the nurse blocked my escape and dragged me back...

My family and I get them every year. Both of my children are young and my wife works in a medical office but not directly with patients. None of us have ever had a reaction and I can count on one had the people who I know who ever have.

Actually you should get your infant the flu shot and you may not need it. Even though you're vaccinated you can still carry the virus and spread it. Your immune system maybe strong enough to just give you a small running nose or mild fever.

I get a flu shot every other year. I got the flu one year even though I was vaccinated I still got sick because my immune system was very weak due to lack of Vitamin D.

Now I take 2,000+ IU of Vitamin D and I haven't gotten very sick for the past 2 years while working around people that are constantly getting sick.

This is the only reason I started getting them. Wife was badgering me about it. Haven't been ill as a result of the shot.

Never did in the past and never got sick.
