HPA. Very happy with the performance. No issues. Can't compare to the others, as I haven't driven them. And I like the fact that it automatically adjusts for fuel, so you don't have to choose a 91 or 93 tune.
Current - 2012 Golf R, 4 door. SR, NAV, loaded. Deep Black Metallic. HPA Stage 1 Tune, HPA Downpipe w/ cat, HPA Core Interlock Lower Motor mount-75 Red.

To the guys with UM, what are approximate gains and what is the pricing?

**Sent one of the MODs a PM to add UM to the poll.

I want the UM tune but have no dealers close to me.

I asked about the loaner tool program and it essentially works like this:

You pay for 2nd day air both ways, $50 loaner tool fee and $600 for stage 2 or ($830 for me)!

I'm still debating the loaner tool but the cost with shipping and the fee sucks butt. I may try and wait until I drive to Portland, Oregon to have it installed at Double J Motorwerks.

Anyway, for those of you without a dealer close, that is how their loaner tool program works.

I still plan on going UM but just not sure when I'll actually get it.

I thought all tunes were "adjustable" by pulling timing if you didn't have the proper octane fuel. Is HPA or UM different?

Thanks OP, good idea! If I were to do the same I would have left out UM as well...

UM guys, why UM over APR? Pm me if that's out of scope of this thread.

I am still waiting for GIAC's stage 2 file. APR still does not have stage 2 dyno posts up on their website. Have any of the other companies posted US stage 2 dynos?

UM because I'm not a "fanboi." I really trust Jeff's work. More power with less boost and more linear/smoother delivery than APR? Yea that's there.

Other than that? I've lost respect for APR with their price gouging, ridiculous markups, and their representative on this forum trying to bash other tuners in their own threads. That's why I'm at Forge Twintake over VWR intake, Autotech hpfp over APR's ridiculous price for one, and UM tune.

Other than what's stated in my first "paragraph," I guess everything else is subjective/perspective.

I didn't go with APR, but most of that was for geographic reasons. I really wouldn't call their prices gouging. The VWR products cost as much our more in England. The software its very comparable.

Just installed APR RSC exhaust for my new 2013 Golf R with Carbonia Intake and finished it off with an APR Stage 1 ECU upgrade. I will get HPFP soon. The ECU upgrade is worth the money.

I am trying to learn more about UM and they have zilch on their website... a google search of "united motorsports golf r tune" does not even pull up UM's website. Is this some esoteric cult that I need to be initiated into to find out more about it?

I have Unitronic on my car but I didn't vote yet because I am switching. Their GTI tune worked great for me and I had zero complaints but I think it's time to see other tunes...

I was dead set on APR but now I hear of this mythical UM tune... need moar info!

Why don't you ask a UM dealer? They'll fill you in. Try Tom at ApTuning.

I have Unitronic on my car but I didn't vote yet because I am switching. I have zero confidence in their ability to tune a golf R. Their GTI tune worked great for me and I had zero complaints but it's a much different story for the R. For the love of dubs, please do not put a Unitronic tune on a golf R.

      Seriously, update your website, FFS!

i was only able to find a UM tuner by the grace of another member on here, abeR. he gave me the screen name of a guy local to me and i was able to get ahold of him and set up the flash. you can try to contact jeff on here. i think his screen name is something like jeffness or jeffness1.

I'm most curious about people's experiences and opinions about REVO and GIAC since they are the only 2 dealers in my state. Please share your thoughts.
