Does this mean we can now get dual center exhaust in the GTI.
Even with the tires completely filling the wheel wells the car still has too much ground clearance. I think large diameter tires will look odd on this platform.
I am a VW Fan, but above all I am a Car Fan.

I willing to bet that plastic mesh/honeycomb piece that stretches across the lower part of the bumper is straight from the new gti. I like it.

I suspect (hope?) the final bodykit will be much more aggressive then this. Also if you're going to rock 4 tailpipes, I'd hope for more then 280 hp.

I'm willing to bet that this is nothing like the car is going to look. It would have Camo at the very least if this wasn't a completely goofy look.
Deception in plain sight.![]()
Want: Audi MQB RS3 Sportback, S-Tronic (DSG) in the USA.
Want: Mk7 Golf Sportwagon with DSG, HID/LED's, TDI and AWD (With potentially an R-Kit)
Want: Mk7 Golf R 4 Door with DSG
Want: More Hatchbacks/Sportbacks/Wagons in the US.

The way this Golf R (Mk7) is being made now (Standard Model), I'm a little nervous that we won't get this car in the states. Unless it's confirmed that it will be made locally somewhere near the US as well. (I saw that the Golf may be made in Mexico or TN potentially.)
I would be curious what Jamie's thoughts are on this considering that this is such a niche vehicle. Don't get me wrong, I would love it if more were on the road. (I've only seen 1 Golf R Mk6)
I just hope VWoA is going to want this car in the US lineup.![]()

P.S. I would gladly pay more if it had more power than 280hp. (Golf RS just once please?) I expect the US will get the detune 265-270hp since we have terrible gas ratings here.
If the motor isn't more HP, I guess it will be time to pay some tuners. Maybe VW can work with APR on some factory tuning options or something.![]()

Yum, black wheels on a black car. Really like that look. Best thing about black wheels? You don't have to clean them.

This R is missing a lot of R things that I am sure VW does not want to give away right now (ex. Side skirts, rear spoiler, rear valance... Etc.). The only thing that's there it seems is the front bumper with the GTI grill pasted on it.
How cool would it be if the put the fog lights behind the lower grills on the GTI?

Notwithstanding that, the car seems alot closer than 2+ years away, (based on the comment about the 3rd year of Golf 7 production.) Normally cars aren't seen with actual bodywork and that low a level of camo until they're not far from production. I can't say for sure, but I don't think the Golf 6 R was seen running around like this on the eve of the introduction of the Golf 6.

Do they not sell video cameras in Germany? I know its a mule but the exhaust tips look odd almost bad photoshop odd.

Not too excited about it. Then again I haven't loved the looks of any US available since the limited edition MKIV Jetta GLi. I just wish they would go more aggressive and do more so it truly looked like a different model. I couldn't tell you if I have even seen a Golf R at this point on the road.
Oh well in the end as long as it has DSG as an option I will be in the market assuming it is only 2 years away.

Ought to be pretty damn good if they're doing testing this early. I'm talking EVOX good. I hope.![]()

The rear on that looks so fake, the exhaust is just plain weird
That's why my stock '08 was able to pull away from stock GoRfs out of the corners during the HDPE that VWOA hosted for R owners at Summit Point? I know, I know....chip it and it's no contest.

Transmission option would be the dealbreaker for me. I need DSG. I like the current R, but since I have to share the car with the fiancee, a manual is out of the equation at this point.

I will NEVER make a purchase/lease decision EVER AGAIN based on the abilities (or lack thereof) of my wife...... PERIOD!!
I parted with my MKVI MT GTI in January partially due to the 52 & 1/2" 7-year-old son...but MOSTLY due to the fact that my wife was unable to drive a manual transmission. My job now requires me to be out of town once a month for a week, so the Routan sits at the airport and she drives the DSG-equipped Passat 3.6...
The Passat has served its purpose....BUT with the news that the MKVII is now a wee bit longer, I'll be back to my old childish ways!! The mature saloon will have to go!! ....and my wife will have to get used to driving her own car.....all the time!! I enjoy D.R.I.V.I.N.G. waaaaaaaay too much.
Now... how to get VW to make mine MY way: Tornado Red, 4-door, manual transmission, cloth, Dynaudio, Bi-Xenons (the "R" part is unnecessary)

I played that game. Got rid of a 5-speed WRX for a DSG '10 GTI in '09 so the wife could drive it. She never did. Now I have a '13 R 6-speed and she has her own automatic car. Buy a car for you and get what you want. If you want DSG then it's a win-win.

Does an else think this just looks pretty much like a mkVI with a new jetta front end? I know, I know, not EXACTLY, but I don't see anything that excites me here.
