I'm assuming the cat-back is still stock? Does the exhaust still sound stock?

Has the timing belt been replaced?

How much life left on the tires?

    Definitely interested. Car looks clean

Exhaust is all stock except APR downpipe which doesn't have a noticeable sound difference.
Car still has original timing belt, and I don't believe it's due to be replaced yet according to the factory maintenance ??
Replaced the tires about 2 years ago and they have about 20k on them so they are in good shape.
    Car is very very clean.

I had a 07 GTI (same engine) with an APR 3" DP and stock catback. At idle and cruising it sounds stock. When you put your foot in it though, you can hear a significant difference that I really liked personally. Gave the car a nice sleeper feeling. Hope this helps your sale. And usually timing belts are not something you need to start worrying about till over 80k miles.

How many times have you replaced the Cam Follower and at what mileage?

Also when did the car become stage 2?

  17. 10-26-2012 07:56 PM #17
The car went directly to stage II in May of 2010 with 40k miles on the odometer. I have the records to back these numbers. The car has never had cam follower replaced, nor has there been a malfunction indicator to suggest it needs to.

You probably want to have that checked out before you try and sell it,

when you have symptoms of a failing cam follower its often too late. They need to be replaced before 60k miles on stock cars, let alone tuned cars. Follower is $50, it'll take you an hour.

Thanks for the advice and input. I have the letter from Volkswagen which extends the warranty on these parts, but I wasn't very aware of the problem until I just researched the issue.

I'll call the dealership and ask if they will inspect the cam follower for failure. Otherwise I will handle it myself since it seems cheap & quick to replace. Thanks again.

Replaced it 3 times in my MkV, i hate seeing FSI cars fall victim to bad followers!

Really clean GLI btw, wish this was up for sale before I bought my MkVI

Today the dealership performed all open updates on the vehicle. These included the PCV Breather Valve and IMRC Motor replacements with the updated parts.
Also had them inspect the cam follower for wear and everything was in good condition. Even better news is they said the cam shaft is the updated Rev. B cam.
