Should I just start parting it out?
#1
Bought this car a few years ago with a blown trans with plans to convert it to diesel and make it my road trip car. You all know how plans change. I have 7 cars at this point and some need to go. This one is first. It has some rust but not horrible. I have acquired another trans for it but have not installed it. The other trans will come with the sale. Honestly though I think just the front seal in the trans is shot because all the fluid comes out around the torque converter and we all know how well an auto trans works with no fluid. There is a chance that you could end up with two working transmissions for it once the seal is replaced. The car has sat for a while and every time I go to start it (about once a month), she fires right up, even in the dead of winter. It is always pretty amazing. The previous owner had lots of work done to it including the struts/shocks, new exhaust, etc. I feel confident that once the trans is put in this would make a great winter car. Like I said it has some rust. There are a few small broken dash pieces, but the carpet and pleather seats are in great shape. A/C no worky, but all the parts appear to be there.
The odometer reads about 115k which I'm pretty sure is true. Let me know if you have any interest and we can talk more details and I can take more pictures.
Price is $600 picked up in Columbus, OH

Have you started to part out the wagon or do you still have it available as a whole car? How bad is the rust.
Have a manual transmission Quantum sedan with the Turbo diesel but bad body rust. Sounds like that might be a do able swap. I might have to try it.

Yup I still have it and haven't started parting it. It has a fair amount of rust but not too horrible. I have a golf with a ton more that I drive regularly. Where are you located? How rusty is your Quantum?
