Joe, most likely fit and finish. So far, everything ive ever bought from HPA has been spot on as far as Fit and Finish for the most part. the competition thus far, do not seem to have the same fit and finish and although expensive, you are paying for everything you would get from HPA if there was a problem as well.

If they could do 1200 out the door, I feel I would be more inclined to purchase one but 1500 , i cant justify unfort..

I think I might just buy an orange controller from you guys and keep the track cars on the track... and the street cars on the street. I really don't "need" 2 track cars anyway.

If you guys think this is expensive anyone in Europe has to add 25% to the price for import tax and VAT total £1875 plus extra shipping cost so probably more like $2000 for something with $200 of steel in it. Sorry HPA i am a fan of your products which are great quality and no doubt it will have great wields but your massive mark up for what is lets be honest a very basic roll bar means your never going to sell many of these. If you sold these at a more realistic price like say $1000 which is still double the autopower roll bar you would probably sell loads and earn a lot more total profit then just selling a few at a very high mark up.
585 flywheel bhp HPA blackjack turbo conversion. Forged engine, ported head,+1mm Ferrea valves + spring,Schrick 268/264 cams,Vibratechnic engine mounts + dogbone,DRP gearbox,Clutchmaster FX850,Quaife up front and Peloquin in the rear etc etc.
DRP gearbox`s and R32 rear diffs always for sale

If we could produce them at a cheaper price, we would. This is the very reason we originally discontinued this part in the first place.

Unless things change here soon, I will be removing myself from the thread...

Hey guys, while I too am going a different direction, let's keep this on track as the group buy thread. If you're not interested or want to go another direction do so.

HPA has been nice enough to revive this product for those that want it and they can certainly charge whatever they deem is fair. Different manufacturers have different costs so it's not always apples to apples.

From our original Vortex post on the Roll Bar…

Having experienced first-hand the dramas of pre-fabricated bolt-in roll cages on past project cars; poor fitment, inadequate fixturing, flimsy looking mounting brackets, encroachment on cabin space, etc., HPA’s build team has turned to fabricating their own cages in more recent years. This has enabled HPA to satisfy the most demanding expectations of its top clients with superb attention to detail and subtle integration into the factory interior.

Designed for the performance oriented daily driver that is looking for race styling and an added sense of security for occasional track use, this bar hugs the outer skeleton of the car to maximize usable cabin space and features a removable harness bar to ensure full functionality of the front and back seats is completely maintained.

The main hoop fits snugly to the roof line and B-pillars without blocking access to the seat belts or seat adjusters, and the rear lateral bars are inset towards the quarter windows before passing through the top of the neatly refinished interior quarter panel upholstery, where the bolted down mounting pedestals are hidden out of sight.

Starting with 1.75” diameter DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) steel tubing with .120” wall thickness, the main hoop is fixtured and cold formed to a meticulously prescribed shape, and rear lateral bars and harness bar are precision cut to length. Mounting Pedestals are formed from .095 wall DOM with laser cut steel mounting plates, and Double Shear end links are CNC machined from carbon steel to best withstand the forces of an impact, then notched to mate with the main hoop before the entire assembly is TIG welded.

All components are then electro-statically powder coated in a durable graphite black color; adding to the stealth installation and complementing the OEM interior. To complete this ready to install kit, five itemized packages of top grade hardware and a comprehensive visual instruction booklet are included; making easy work out of this weekend installation project. The weight of this product is approx 52 pounds.

Both structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing, HPA’s Club Sport Roll Bar offers strength and style that is unsurpassed by anything else on the market… An absolute “Must-Have” for every Weekend Warrior’s ride…

WARNING: This product is not a substitute for safe and careful driving. There are limitations to the severity of impact that the product described herein can withstand and no warranty is made to this product's ability to protect the user from any injury or death. The user assumes that risk.

    Hey Darryl,

Well.... that's apples and oranges compared to anything else I've seen that's "bolt-in". Nicely done! Since it's HPA, guessing this is a local fabricator that would be building these for you, and not an overseas vendor. That would certainly explain/justify the cost. Really a nice piece.

*** EDIT *** Looks like this version will have the harness bar, and I'll still be able to move my seat all the way back. Am I right on the seat part?

Thanks for your updated info... that makes this a little harder decision.

You are correct on the seat part...roll bar pieces are fabricated locally and finished at HPA. Made in Canada...

I'll consider being number #10 depending on when the final payment is due. If everyone hops on now and products would arrive within a few months, I'm out. If it's going to take several months, more likely I'll be in...

Are there any pictures anywhere of how the b-pillar legs of the roll bar are mounted?

Fit and finish of this product is spot on but does it address the deficiency of other roll bars on the market?

To me the total cost of an autopower bar = Price of bar + labor to have plate welded into rear floor for re-inforcement.

That brings the price up to approx $1K for a solid autopower setup.
