No offense, but I'd trash that anamorphic lens. Footage using it looks seriously degraded.

i finally got some time to shoot some test footage with (almost) all my lenses that i've acquired over the past few years. the only one i didn't shoot with was the 135mm fd mount. that was because the 'lock' function on my m4/3 to fd adapter doesn't quite do whatever it needs to do so you can control the aperture, so it shoots wide open (f2.8). i have an adjustable nd filter, but it's for a 52mm lens, and the 135 is a 55mm..so i need to get one for it. anyways, the rest of the lenses in question:
panasonic 14-42mm/f3.5-5.6
unknown brand c-mount 25mm/f1.2
fujinon c-mount 2.8mm/f2.2
zenitar m42 mount 16mm/2.8
canon fd mount 50mm/f1.8
toyo fd mount 28mm/f2.8
sankor compact cinemascope anamorphic with VAMP clamp
i do have it hacked with the driftwood GOPSTOPPA and EOSHD anamorphic mjpeg patches. avchd is ~176mbit/sec (max) intraframe where as the mjpeg is a little different. 480p mjpeg mode is now shooting ~100mbit/sec (max), 30fps, at 1920x720. this ends up giving me a 2.66:1 aspect ratio when using the anamorphic lens. i kind of like the super wide 3.55:1 that results from shooting in 16:9 though.
i could keep going on, but there's more info on the actual vimeo page. i just got the anamorphic lens, so it was the first time shooting with it. i'm supposed to be shooting a music video this weekend, so i may use it for that.

Not bad, I use old olympus glass on my 7D when I shoot narrative stuff. It's obviously not as sharp as shooting with canon glass, but it has a certain appeal and film look. It has personality and takes you away from the idea that you're looking at digital video.

there's definitely some bad spots in this footage, but a lot of that comes down to it was the first time using the lens. i'm getting better with the focusing of the anamorphic lens and the taking lens, and the alignment of the anamorphic lens. if it's off a little bit, everything is skewed and looks like poop. if the focus is off, you don't get a smooth, unfocused area like a normal lens, it also ends up looking like poop.
the older lenses are fun to mess around with. and some are really cheap. for the most part, i stick with either the kit lens or the 50mm canon fd lens. i'd like to get some better c-mount lenses. they're pretty cool and really small
i've got a couple things i'm working on now, but i'll try to get a better demo of the anamorphic at some time

Yeah I played with a bolex anamorphic for awhile, I couldn't get it to mount properly so I ended up reselling it on ebay.
The 50mm canon is nice, I use to shoot with a Zeiss 50mm for work. Fast lens, but I would never dial it any faster then 2.8 for focus-pulling reasons. I'm not a fan of "focus searching" in videos.
