Thread: Headliner Removal/ Sunroof Drain Issues

  1. 09-19-2012 05:41 PM #1
I am looking at removing my headliner so I can get to my sunroof drain and replace the drain. I heard that if you disconnect the battery than you have no worry about deploying the airbag. Any one else dealt with this yet? It is an 02 GTI VR6.

    Thanks!

Disconnect the airbag and then wait a good 15 - 20 minutes. Extra cushion to make sure it doesn't deploy.

Before doing all this I'd actually water test your sunroof drains. Retract your sunroof all the way and pour water in both front corners, see if A) the water drains and B) if it leaks out the nipple in the door jamb.

After doing that if it is draining water but not coming out the nipple proceed with interior removal to find the leak.
Pm me for any and all glass questions and inquires, or any VAG-COM needs.
