Any suggestions on a good CAI for the dreaded 2.5? A search didnt really turn up any results for the 2.5, I know this Motor gets a bad wrap, But id like to know what are some good options for a CAI? I have heard Takeda, Apr Carbonio and neuspeed. Id like to pair it with a decent exhaust also. Anyone with a 2.5 that has intake and exhaust mods please advise. Thanks.

Yeah I'd like to see any definitive dyno numbers on aftermarket VS OEM on that vehicle. Unless the installation is for the audible improvements I'd put money elsewhere.

AND it's a great motor after you turbo it. Maybe one of the best.

As you can tell by the responses.... Not worth it for a CAI and or exhaust. Back in 1990 I would say TT exhaust and Neuspeed intake. But with the turbo era, the return on investment is just not there for the N/A 2.5. But it all depends on the N/A engine. Take the VR6. It won't sound like Chewbacca stock. It needs exhaust work to get the sweet note from it. Not so much HP but engine music. The 2.5 does not have a unique exhaust note like the VR. Spend your money elsewhere.

I had a RS 07 Rabbit before I upgraded to my R. I made CIA from parts at vatozone and deleted the resonator and suitcase muffler. Let me tell you it made a huge difference. Not just the sound but the torque curve was much flatter and much more useable. After I did that and put S4 rims and good tires on it it was like a whole different car. The hardest part was not leaving my tires on the asphalt everywhere I went! Lol. I still kinda miss that lil bunny. If I were to do it again I would get the carbino intake and do the exhaust the same and have UM tune it. If you just want a quick fun to drive car that's all you really need. Shoot I still averaged 29mpg.
    ITS MINE!!!! ALL MINE!!!! HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAAA

Talk to some of the guys at IE about the potential of the 2.5 and what they are seeing on flow rates through the head with the testing of their intake manifold. I love my VR and wouldn't trade it for anything but it sacrifices certain things in order to keep it a small package, intake and head design for one from what I understand. The I-5 doesn't have these disadvantages.

Maybe I overstated the point but all I was saying is that although its been a largely ignored power train it has great potential.

LVDubn, I was recommended the same intake. I was also looking at the APR Carbino intake.
