(Please read whole add)Back up for sale, looking for cash or trades plus cash!
I have a 1989 German made Jetta GL.
9A swap as of a little over a year ago(april before last) with around 120k miles on it as of now. It runs flawlessly, and starts up instantly every time. I am so confident in this engine that I drove it down from Washington when I moved back here(to Utah). That's 900 miles in ONE day and 80 mph the whole way down. This car is not some crap box rotting with rust and the typical mkII mildew smell. I have treated this car like my baby. I have only ever ran 91 oct(even when my pockets were shallow) from Shell and Chevron. The oil has been changed often(every 2700 miles) with valvoline 5w-30. I never let people lean, or sit on it seeing as my paint doesn't suck and I would like to preserve the condition it's in.
Anyway, onto the mod list.
-Digi II with BBM fuel rail and 23lb. injectors
-solid front BBM motor mount
-Neuspeed ignition wires
-Raceland 4-2-1 headers
-tt exhaust with Borla muffler
-short shift
-mkIV wood grain shift nob and leather boot
-Corrado steering wheel and front floor mats
-GLI foam spoiler
-Euro hella tail lights
-Recaro rear bench seat, clean GL seats up front(fully functioning, no tears or stains)
-4 wheel discs; 10.1 discs up front with all four calipers being rebuilt in the past year
-Steel braided brake lines
-Koni one piece coilovers with adjustable dampening(these are not cheap, go look them up brand new, they go for $1599 from more than just one website.)
-new sound system, a sub would make it sound better but it sounds good
-tint
-pinstripe headliner
I may be forgetting some things but if I remember I'll list it.
Good things about the car.
It has been well maintained. I frequently wipe it down with a wet shammy and wax it about once a month.
The car is practically rust free, there is minor surface rust on the rear end where a non coherent person in a truck tagged the car, it is a very minor dent and does not ruin the functionality of anything about the car.
The sunroof works and does not leak!
everything is manual about the car so there is much fewer things to go wrong.
interior is clean with newer black carpet.
new parts on the car to make it a reliable daily driver, I have not had it break down on me a single time.
it is an overall great vehicle, I just don't have much use for it this coming future seeing as I will be in basic, and thinking about it sitting and not being driven like it should be is doesn't make sense.
The not so gravy.
The clutch recently started to slip, I ordered a new clutch kit today (9/20/2012) and will be putting it in ASAP.
The headlight switch decided to stop making a solid connection and the left side parking lights aren't working, a new switch off ebay is $10 and takes 30 seconds to replace, not that big of a deal but it's something that's annoying that needs to be fixed. I will probably fix that too.
Headliner is sagging a little, another easy fix.
The Jetta should pass Utah emissions and safety testing. I can't see why it wouldn't.
My asking price is 3,000
PM me for pics or any questions.
