Key Design Elements:

WHEEL FITMENT: Unlike most Big Brake Kits, the HPA system is designed to fit behind the OEM 18" GTI, GLI, or Golf R wheels without any spacers. Note: Factory dust shield must be removed to accommodate larger rotor.

WEIGHT SAVINGS: This kit shaves 6 pounds of rotational mass per rotor, which results in improved acceleration and deceleration, and a total of 32 pounds of un-sprung weight for improved suspension function.

CALIPERS: CNC machined from billet aluminum, the fixed 6-piston caliper and is designed to increase rigidity, improve braking efficiency, and improve pedal feel. Featuring internal crossover pipes, these calipers have a sleek streamlined look with no fragile external components. Pistons are sized to HPA specification with exact piston bore for perfect front and rear balance. Piston seals protect from dust, weather, and pressure to meet DOT spec.

ROTORS: Two piece floating rotor with directional curved vanes, and HPA curved slots. Hats are anodized CNC machined aluminum, and discs are zinc-plated for corrosion protection.

PADS: The ceramic compound pads included with the kit are suitable for street and mild track use. They create minimal brake dust and are relatively quiet. Sharing the same profile as Corvette C5/C6, there are many different replacement options available on the open market. Note: the OEM pad wear sensors are eliminated.

With the North American release of the sporty Gen.4 Haldex-equipped VW R20 and Audi TT-RS, HPA is proud to announce the release of its exclusive “Competition” controller for these newest platforms.

In 2004, HPA collaborated with the engineers at Haldex to develop an exclusive Competition variant of the Gen.1 Haldex ECU. Unlike any existing controller, HPA’s Competition unit retained rear driveline engagement under braking; a key advantage in motorsports, and for driving enthusiasts.

Once again, we worked with the team at Haldex to develop this exclusive Gen.4 Competition version, and bring this potent technology back to the market. The HPA Gen.4 Competition Controller is calibrated similar to the "Race mode" setting used in the standard Gen.4 Performance Controllers, but has the additional feature of increasing the clutch torque when braking. By doing so, wheel brake torque is now transferred rearwards through the AWD clutch, offering a far more aggressive deceleration capability. Additionally, the Competition controller will support left foot braking without disengaging the 4-motion clutch while out on the track.

This Gen.4 Competition unit does not offer the selectable modes offered in our standard Gen.4 Haldex Performance Controllers (Stock, Race, and Eco, for reference), and therefore no extra switch or remote is required.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Our upgraded mounts reduce motor flex to improve torque transfer to the drivetrain, and prevent excessive movement under hard acceleration. Shifter engagement is faster and easier and stability is improved. These mounts will solidify the engine's connection to the chassis while still isolating its vibrations from the cabin.



HOW DOES IT WORK?

The unique Core Interlock design was born to balance sensitive chassis harmonics while maintaining a comfortable feel of the engine at idle.

Unlike other urethane inserts which merely reinforce the OEM rubber mount; this is a completely re-engineered one stop solution that will control the engine’s motion without the need to install aftermarket side mounts.

Knowing the limitations on the IHI ( K03 ) turbo the TSI comes equipped with we sought out to upgrade the turbo while maintaining factory plumbing and lessen the install burden for shops and home mechanics alike.

The factory Borg Warner K04 turbo that is equipped on the Golf R / S3 is a much more robust turbo with a higher operational boost range, while still mounting on and integrating seamlessly with the stock compentry. We modify the OEM K04 compressor cover, to allow the factory K03 diverter valve to be installed in the OEM location via a CNC port adapter, saving the consumer from purchasing unnecessary plumbing and mounts to complete the installation.

We also remove the turbo muffler to accommodate an HPA designed CNC machined fitting allowing the outlet pipe of the turbo to be rotated to clear the block, and to increase airflow out of the unit. This has the added side effect of a less muffled and smoother air stream exiting the turbo.

A laser cut block off plate for the OEM S3 PCV system is included with all K04 kits as this port is not required on a TSI motor.

Each kit will include a TSI stage 2 software tune as developed on our winning SCCA World Touring Car engines, allowing for maximum horsepower, drivability and engine longevity.

The perfectly balanced shifter counter weight gives each shift a precise and positive engagement and greatly improves the feeling over the sloppy stock shifter.

The bright zinc plated finish ensures that the stock appearance of your engine compartment is maintained while protecting the casting from corrosion.
