As long as you end up with 400 to 600 before final paint you'll be fine

Dont go crazy sanding it. You wanna take the texture down a Lil. But you really should plastic prep and bake the raw material before using a high build primer. Sand and possibly re coat. Repeat till smooth. It can take very long and cost lots of sand paper to smooth it fully. Plus you may end up "digging" dents into the plastic.

I wanted to just sand down to smooth but now I'm entertaining the idea of having the euro plate recess removed, so I will just have the shop do it for me I guess

When sanding down plastic once you get through factory primer the plastic itself will start to "hair" up as you sand it and will make your life miserable. Do as mentioned above with high build primer.

I'm not sanding primer though, it is the texture on the top of the bumper. Just ridding it of all the bumps. I will try sometime next year lol I'm in no hurry, this is a long term project anyway
Thanks for the input guys, I might get a cheap-o bumper to practice on first

Re read what I initially wrote. Like the other guy said. If you sand too much or with too aggressive of paper or method you will get fuzzies. Not easy to rid for anyone, especially a beginner. So primer the texture. Sand and re primer. Till smooth. I'm doing it now on my rear valance.
