"Can we keep her" asked my girlfriend. I had been coaxed into visiting a couple of shelters on a Saturday morning as we were interested in either buying a puppy or adopting a dog from a shelter. We saw a couple of puppies and huskies, then came across a unique looking dog. Seemed a little timid at first but quickly warmed up in the yard and on a walk. She was found as a stray and was obviously someone's pet who didn't bother to look for it.
We filled out the application and waited nervously for 5 days. Finally, we got a call to come back up the dog on Saturday! She has a really good temperament. Knows a few tricks such as come but really needs obedience training on sitting, heeling and walking. She loves her new crate and they're are tons of dogs in the area to play with. She just got spayed on Friday so we're taking it easy but she seems to be in good spirits. We're really excited to give her a great home.
Name: Ember
Age: Estimate 12 months (no background history on dog)
Type: Possibly a mix of Dachshund, Terrier, Hound (Catahoula?), Whipit

What a dog! Ember is 9-12 months old according to the vet and still acts like a puppy!
She comes to work with me everyday. First day, she peed in one of the conference rooms at the start of the meeting. Otherwise been accident and problem free. Everyone at the office loves her, probably gets 10 back rub sessions a day from my coworkers. She does not like being left alone in the crate but we're working on that. Obedience 1 training starts in a week. Slightly obsessed buying bones and toys.
Here is a pic from the first weekend!
