On my way to look at an 04 GLI 1.8T with 56K. Dealer says it has coilovers and the pictures show it lowered, really low. If I get this car, I'm putting it back up in the air so I can drive it like a normal car. With most brands of coilovers, can you bring the car back up to the factory GLI, 337 height? I'm a former 337 owner so I'm aware of what that height is. Never had coils on anything, any brands to stay away from? It has low miles so I'm assuming it hasn't been lowered for too long. Anything to look for, CV's, Susp, etc...when they sit this low? It's a deal breaker if I buy it, even with only 56K on it.

Yes, most quality coils will allow you to stay at factory ride height. You'll enjoy superb ride quality and handling that way too. But I'd keep it lowered a little... don't forget to get an alignment once you adjust the suspension..

torn cv boots are very common on low/very low cars, so i might have them check that out..otherwise, shouldn't have much of a problem...As far as brands/stuff to stay away from...there aren't really brands to stay away from, but there is definitely a difference in quality from the cheaper brands to the more expensive brands in terms of quality of the ride and construction sometimes. Some of the more expensive brands (like KW) are made from stainless which is really cool...brands like Raceland and Rokkor tend to rust a bit, seize sometimes, etc. You get the point.

It has B&G RS2's on it. No spanner tools or anything. Bone jarring ride and slammed to the ground. Is it easy to get he car back up in the air? And adjust the damping?

Ya..just like doing it with any other car that has coils..Without the spanner wrenches if might be a b*tch...especially if they are really dirty/any sort of seized...I'm sure you could probably order the wrenches from B&G for a few bucks though.
