Thread: Q5 tdi?

  1. 09-24-2012 11:27 AM #1
When do we get to see the new Q5 TDI in the US? This seems like a perfect blend of performance and mileage to me. Anyone have the info?

I was told maybe as early as second quarter. If it's a 2014 then, it'll be an early 2014 as those usually don't show up until beginning of third quarter.

Interesting that the Q5 TDI gets an S-tronic transmission in most of the world while we will probably only get the Tiptronic.....

It's a market taste thing. S tronic gets dinked on customer service surveys with JD Power and the like. Tiptronic is preferred more by folks in the USA so we only get S tronic on S and RS models.

anyone having a problem with the size and location of the mirror causing a blind spot of oncoming traffic or lack of visibility on the left turn say if there is an island.
We nearly got wiped out because did not see car coming at us form the left.
I have heard others complain, Audi and Boardwalk Audi plano texas ignoring me.
    I think this is dangerous.
    Help. Hylton.

I've never heard of this problem and have logged plenty of miles on Q5 without a problem or sense I was missing something. That said, if it's really a problem for you as a driver you might consider checking to see if the smaller A4 mirror is a compatible swap.

I'm in the UK and have just ordered an SQ5 TDI in Estoril Blue Black/Lunar interior plus some toys - delivery with luck will be July 2013

I also found this to be an issue during the first week of owning my Q5.
I read about this on another forum ("dumbo" mirrors). One suggestion was to raise the seat (which seemed to help).
However after a few weeks I must have gotten use to it (my brain has adapted) and now I feel quite confident and no longer feel that it is an issue.

Other vehicles also have this issue (Toyota Landcruiser) -

    I'm green with envy

I purchased a Q5 3.0T in December because I couldn't wait any longer for the TDI. I also didn't know the US-spec SQ5 was coming soon.
