Thread: FS/FT: 89 GTI, ABA Swap, 5 spd, 227k on body, all new front suspension & steering, Central PA

For sale/for trade is my '89 GTI with full ABA swap and AGB 16v close-ratio transmission. I decided I have to much going on in life to justify finishing this project (new job + kid). The car has been incredibly reliable for me over the past year i have owned it. It also has always had plenty of power (more than i expected) and runs great. I bought this car for better fuel mileage and to fix it up and autocross it but the work load of finishing college and now life has proven to be too much. It breaks my heart to let all my hard work go but it must be done. Car has been extremely reliable and starts right up every time. I put about 3-4,000 miles on it this past year.

    New Parts:
G60 Strut tops & transmission mount
    R32 Control arm bushings
    All front suspension/swaybar bushings
    Ball joints
    Tie-rod ends
    Spark plugs & wires
    Bosch cap & rotor
Driver side rear spindle and wheel bearing
    Front motor mount
    Recharged K&N air filter
Tires (have 2000 miles on them)
Used but leak free power steering rack
Used but like new BSI Racing Coilovers
Used Koni yellow double adjustable strut inserts (front only)
    Badgeless grille (not installed)

    The good:
    Inspected til May 2013
OBD1 ABA 2.0L mostly stock but feels quick for stock
    AGB close-ratio 16v transmission
    Rear disc brakes
Vented front rotors w/ mk3 caliers
Front & Rear strut tower braces
    MK3 radiator and fan conversion
K&N cone filter and PCV valve mod
Custom full high-flow exhaust (louder than stock but relatively quiet)
    4 New tires on the 14" MK2 12-hole steelies
    Big Bumpers
    Short shifter
MK3 center console (now has cup holders)
Recaro front seats (not self-reclining yet)
    Plaid headliner & door cards
Aftermarket steering wheel (Unkown brand but in like new condition)
All the locks match the key
Aftermarket headunit (works but needs speakers)

    The Bad:
PO attempted his own paint job and failed miserably
Green car with gold driver side fender
Dash has cracks but is a pocket dash
    Missing driver door trim
Car will need a clutch if your going to drive it hard but doesn't slip under normal conditions
Transmission appears to leak but fluid level has not went down much since i've owned it.

Open to trades, but will sell outright. Asking $2500 but negotiable. Located near Harrisburg, PA.
