Recently acquired a Walther PK380 and looking for laser and/or tac light. Viridian is really nice but too pricey. From what I understand the railing mounting system is a Weaver style. Suggestions?

Streamlight TLR-1S...good light, and can be had for at or under $100.

Trust me, in the dark, if you have the presence of mind to engage it - it can be seriously disorienting. However the light is bright enough (160 lumens on the current model) to be disorienting anyway.

I've played with the strobe feature but don't imagine I'd use it under stress. I know some police officers will activate strobe lights when extricating someone from a car (aim it at the rear view mirror as you approach the car, etc.)

I don't really think too much about it. Just use the light.

Alright picked up a relatively inexpensive laser for my PK380. It has the ability to remote mount a pressure switch to turn it on/off but I'm not sure what the best method of attachment is. Suggestions, ideas, etc? I'm thinking double-sided tape.

Well, if that's the exact laser in the photo, it clamps to the picatinny rail on the dust cover of your pistol.

However, in all honesty, I'd return or exchange it. Depending on your definition of 'inexpensive', it's probably intended for airsoft or is simply junk. Secondly though, that style of laser is not at all ideal for a pistol (especially something small like your Walther). It would be more appropriate for a long gun, hence the remotely mounted pad switch with the long cable. I doubt it will fit your pistol well at all. You really do want something like a TLR - the TLR-4 is a light/laser combo and it's small and compact and self-contained.

Yep, that's a bunch of stuff you don't need hanging on your gun. I don't know if Crimson Trace makes grips for your gun, but that's another option (it's a rubber sleeve/grip that has a self-contained laser built in).

I've never run lasers, nor really felt the need to. Cheapo lasers will break under recoil if it's not meant for serious firearms use.

Mine is an older model so it isn't affected.

Shot it last night for the first time. Flawless operation. Great little gun for self defense. The 380 ACP round (9mm Browning) is a fun round to shoot. Little recoil makes it easy to get back on target fast. Seems to be very accurate out to 50 feet. Got a good grouping of 8 rounds about 4" diameter circle (sorry no pics) at about 40 feet out shooting at paper targets. Gonna buy some HP rounds and see if anyone has a extended magazine available.

Laser only: CT Rail Master Universal Mount; small, compact, and comes from a good company with experience in the field.

Laser/light combo: Streamlight TLR-4; I love my TLR-1. Durable construction, great output, great company.

Both are around $150 by the looks of it.

EDIT: If there are no extended magazines available, look for extended mag baseplates, usually +1/+2 rounds. As always, be sure to function test them thoroughly at the range to ensure consistent operation, especially on a HD/SD pistol.
