I've got a 2013 CC sport and when I listen to music via Bluetooth, the music is missing the left channel. It's very noticeable when you listen to music that has tracks that move from left to right or visa versa. Everything else plays fine it's only Bluetooth. Is anyone else having this issue?

Yeah i noticed that too! it happens with SAT Radio too i think. although i dont have a test sample of most of the songs i listen to over SAT.

Although the overall sound is fine, i must say i am NOT a fan of this radio. for those without the Nav unit (like this guy!), the touch screen is useless and lags pretty good. when browsing throught folders for music, there is a pretty good amount of "please wait". when i adjust the volume, the bottom row of "buttons" is coverred up by the volume bar thereby renderring them unavailable until the volume bar goes away. basically i am a fan of buttons that are real. touchscreen is great for things where a button would be impractical.

I hate the auto level adjustment feature. not the auto volume but the thing that cuts the low frequency response for higher speeds. it would be nice to be able to turn that feature off.

Yeah it just must be the radio without the sat nav. I rode in my friends cc with the sat nav radio and played a song that had side to side tracks and it sounded just fine. I get back in my car and the channel went missing. If I plug my phone into the media in port and play the same track, it sounds fine. Its so strange and kind of annoying! So I bought an sd card and loaded that up and every time i pick a song it says "cannot read file" then does that for the whole album then plays fine. Its totally a weird radio! My question is why does the one with sat nav work fine and the ones without suck?

I can confirm that my 4mo's Bluetooth streaming works flawlessly, so your suggestion that it's something relating to the head unit without sat nav has merit. I'll keep tabs on the thread, heading to the dealer on Friday, so if someone else doesn't go, I'll ask about it.

B7 forum complaining about same thing. VW suggests a firmware update is in the works, but that could be a ways off. The RNS units - 315 and 510 - work fine.

Dieracks do you get one channel sound on all speakers or you get sound on only half of the speakers?

anyone knows if the BT module is still under the passenger seat in the 2013's?

IIRC, there is nothing under the passenger seat in my '13

The BT button is gone as well (from the overhead console) and it's incorporated in the MFI now

It's on all the speakers. So if I use the fader the sound is still on both sides but if the music track I'm listening to has a left/right switch I.e. a dueling guitar solo, you will only hear one side but out of all the speakers.

In the 2009-2012 the bluetooth module has 4 wires for the 2 channels going into the RCD-510.
i know because i had to add 2 wires for my module to sound in stereo, i'm wondering if VW only ran 2 wires from the BT module to the radio and bridged them in one end.

That's the only logical solution, i doubt WV would change the module to a mono one after the 9W7 module was stereo.

I have heard of the 2 and 4 wire bluetooth issue and it may be a possibility. I'm just going to try get it into the dealer and let them figure it out. It's a brand new car, so its under warranty. I was just hoping it was a quick diy fix cuz its gonna be a pain to explain the problem to the service people at the dealer!

I asked at my Dealer, nobody has come in with a similar issue and there wasn't anything in the computer. Best of luck it resolved!

Anyone know if there is a way to check and see how many wires are currently going into the RCD-510? would i need to pull the radio out? are there separate wire-harness's that correspond to different modules? (i.e., blutooth, mdi, sat etc...) or is there just one harness and each pin corresponds to different functions!

As promised here is the pinout of the RCD-510. Even though my car is 2010 i have a radio from a late 2012 so it should be the same as the 2013.

i have highlighted the plug with the pins from the bluetooth module. When you disconnect the plug from the car to the radio is a single big plug with 3 modules. The green module is where the cables from the bluetooth module come to.

As you can see in the pinout you should have +/- for the right and left channels. If those are somehow bridged you'll get the sound of one of the music channels, either left or right.

In my car i only had 2 cables from the bluetooth module connected to the left channel of the radio, i only had sound from the from the bluetooth module on the left speakers. I had to add the other 2 wires for the right channel when i upgraded my bluetooth module.

    Hello Everyone!

I'm new around here, but I thought I'd weigh in on the issue. I just picked up a jetta 2.5L with the RCD-510 head unit. Being a musician I noticed the bluetooth issue right away and searched these forums, and forwarded them to the local dealer.

The issue involves any 2012 vw with an RCD-510. The only reason it hasn't blown up more then it has is because the general user can't tell the difference. ( I had to demonstrate the issue in my car, and 3 others before there was a "problem")

The best solution is to link a bunch of these forum posts to your dealer, and get customer care involved. So far the only fix is a warranty replacement with a RNS-510.

Be sure to let us know if that fixes the problem. I will be going to my dealer on Friday and hopefully they will do the same for me.

Well, I went to the dealer today and explained the issue. I also demonstrated the problem to the service guy using the pan slider on my phone. He then asked me to pan using the radio, which I did and of course the radio does pan left to right but it is still the mono channel. So basically they said it was an issue with my phone until I showed them that it does the same thing with my wife's phone. Then it turned from being my phone to "you'll have to make an appointment and have a tech diagnose it". So now I wait till Wednesday and I will see what they come up with, which will probably be nothing ugh.

Seems to be working fine in my '13... Only issue I have is Bluetooth sync with the new iPhone 5. Every time i pick up the phone to look at a text or an email the dash automatically switches from say satellite radio to Bluetooth... its really frustrating

Have you tried to use the pan slider on your iphone to make sure? When I use mine and slide it to the left side I get no audio.

Not the mute switch. Go to settings, general, accessability, and down towards the bottom there is an actual L and R stereo pan button. If I slide mine to the left no sound comes out.

I also used a youtube video for L and R stereo test while connected to the stereo and the right channel was totally missing. After playing the same video through my friends Evo, we got the same result. Also when I turned the volume up on my head unit I could hear digital distortion coming through when the right channel came on. I'm going to use this when I go into the dealer on Wednesday morning for my "diagnosis" to prove to them its an issue with the RCD-510 unit.

So I have been working with my local VW dealership over the past week to resolve this issue in my 2012 CC Sport. They ordered me a new radio and isntalled it today. It did not work for me. same issue. however, they did say that the very day i came in last week to address the issue, VW came out with a software fix but it was only for the 2013 models. NOT FOR 2012. if used in the 2012 it will mess things up. so for all you 2013ers out there. go get it!

Us 2012's will have to wait a bit longer for resolution.
