You got the firing order right? Where in NYC are you? I'm in Bedstuy/Bushwick.
I have a 1992 8v jetta and I just bought it about 2 months ago. So I did a tune up and now it dosen't start. I changed the cap, plugs and wires. I did'nt change the rotor because some odd I bought exactly the same one and it dosent fit. when i try to start it cranks but dosent want to turn over. I took off one wire from the coil to install the wire and it isn't giving a spark. The coil was working fine before. If you can help I would appreciate it Thanks
It's probably just wiring so:
Firing order is 1-3-4-2 and the cylinders are 1-2-3-4 from the front (timing belt end) of the engine. In addition, #1 cylinder wire should be located to the right rear of the cap as it sits on the distributor. There is a small line engraved on the distributor body upper edge where #1 wire terminal should align with the rotor.
Make sure the coil wire is properly seated.
Why doesn't the new rotor fit? Did you put the old rotor back in? (Don't laugh -- I've left them out before.) Is the rotor properly seated. Look to see that the center terminal of the cap actually is there and spring loaded so it contacts the rotor. (Once again -- I had a new cap once that was missing that terminal.)
Do you have the cap placed on the distributor body correctly? FR
