Hello all this is my first post here so here goes! Could anyone help with the following?
I have just aquired a VW 1V engine ecodiesel. From what i read its a turbo engine with a none turbo pump and injectors.
What i'd like to know is if i use it with a turbo pump from a JX 1.6TD and also injectors from a JX1.6TD will i get the same horsepower?
And also i plan to rebuild the engine will it be the same spec as a JX 1.6 TD ie the crank measurements pistons and clearances etc....i cant find a manual that covers the ecodiesel.
The 1V has oiljets and recessed pistons just like the JX is it the same engine just with none turbo pump and injectors?
    Many thanks,
    Rob.

We never had the 1V engine here in North America. Can you provide further detail?

I've read other folks installing JX injection pump onto an AAZ with adequate results. I haven't seen any dyno sheet nor driven in on so I cannot comment on performance directly.

I see no reason you can't turbo the 1V.

Hello and thanks for your response, the thing is the 1V is already turbo'd but the injection pump is a none turbo pump and i think turbo is a differnt spec also when compared with the JX, the main concern is when i rebuild the engine which engine specs do i rebuild to? I'm wondering if the cranks will be the same etc
    Many thanks,

    Rob.

The 1V was here...it's the 1.6 TD found in Jetta ECOdiesels in North America in the last two years of the Mk2 Jetta's model run here.

It was already a turbo from the factory.

This thread indicates that the injection pump is different:

It sounds to me like the ECOdiesel 1V engine was mostly a detuned 1.6TD and also a catalytic converter slapped on. I bet if you used it and just used a regular 1.6TD pump and injectors that you would effectively have the same non-ECO 1.6TD that other VWs had.

Oh. Didn't realize that was the ecodiesel. We never had those here in Canada. I've certainly heard of them though.

The stock JX turbo IP will have a "boost" can to enrichen the fuel under boost. It's effectively the same thing as the regular TD IPs LDA but in a low profile offering to fit below the decklid.

What turbo did the 1Y run?

Thanks guys i just heard from the brickwerks company in England that its the exact same engine with a one turbo pump, they told me if i use a turbo IP and injectors i'll technically have a JX which is what i'm after. They told me the only difference is the cylinder head from the 1V has hydraulic tappets. Are these better than none hydraulic tappets?

    THanks again guys.

Sorry the turbo is a KKK K14. Are there variations on the K14 or are all the K14s the same?
    Thanks.

I know you guys got the non-eco-diesels in the Mk2 for longer than we did here in the US so maybe that's why VW didn't bother with the ECO diesel up there? Although I'm a little surprised too that they just didn't give bot the US and Canada the ECOdiesel.

AFAIK, the 1.9L AAZ in the Mk3s that you got wasn't badged as ECOdiesel but effectively were the same idea (cat-equipped like the mk2 1.6 ECOdiesel (yes?)...and the engine was just a larger engine).

Yes. We got the MK II TD until the end of production in '92. We immediately got the Mk III TD in AAZ flavor. Some came with an "eco" style pump with no LDA and K03s and some came with an LDA pump and K14. Typically, from my own observations, the B3/4s got the "eco"
