A year ago, I was putting up a good friend of mine who had lost his house in the Hurricane Irene flood. Last November, he moved into temporary digs in a small trailer on his property.

He has 5 Corvettes and an SUV. His rebuild parameters were to have heated parking for his cars with a house above it. He was on a tight schedule since permitting in a flood zone is such a hassle so he had to go modular to get in before Vermont construction season ends. The slab is 4 feet above grade with 5 foot footings to handle the frost. The foundation walls have flood relief ports in them for the next 500 year flood.

He took time lapse shots of the whole project and has them up on YouTube.

Here is the house getting lifted onto the foundation yesterday.
