Thread: Automatic Tranny service help!

  1. 09-25-2012 04:56 PM #1
So I'm filling up my tranny tomorrow and I've read over all the forums and pretty much figured out how to do everything but I never picked up if the car had to be in park/neutral/drive while pumping in the fluid. Anyone know the answer to this one? Thanks in advance!

Start out with the car in park.

If you're dropping the pan and are changing the filter I believe it takes about six of those liter containers.

Put in about 4 1/2 containers, then start the car and cycle it through all gears holding holding it in neutral , D, R,1,2 for 10 seconds or so.

When the transmission temperature reaches 35° C. Continue to add fluid until it runs out the drain hole.

ATF level is correct if a little bit of fluid still escapes at the ATF check plug between 35 and 45°C.
