I usually spend 2-3 days a week at home. I am in sales so I use those days to catch up on quotes, set up appointments etc.

My commute involves two taxis, two Airbus 319s and takes about 10 hours with checkin and layovers included. In that time I cover about 4000 km and go from warming my toes in the Indian ocean to freezing them off in the South Atlantic.

Probably fill out online survey all day at home.

I'll put this on the table. If you can walk to work, then you don't have a commute.

Freelance graphic designer, print & web. Worked 14 years for someone else, struck out on my own almost 3 years ago. It has its ups and downs but my quality of life is 100x better and I spend a ton of time with my son now.

    My 62miles commute.

Alt. 1 - strictly highway, used most of the time.

    Starting here.

Traffic starts to congest here, the last 10min or so bumber to bumper.

Work! The bit red brick building.

If I have 10 more minutes on hand, this is a much more enoyable route.

As of last week, I walk two blocks to work.

I was driving 20-40K per year for work, so now I'm relieved that my poor cars can rest and be gently used on the weekends only.

12 miles of twisty backcountry roads then 60 in a van through mountians and into the desert. Always very scenic, and if I ever have to drive then there's even more twisty roads. Some people from socal might know of the 94 and how twisty that is then the 8east towards yuma.

6 miles each way to work, morning is about 12 mins and afternoon is about 20 mins. Not too bad compared to what most of the people who live in my area do to get to work everyday. My girlfriend goes to NYC and back 4 days a week. We leave the house at the same time in the morning. Everything sucks about NYC, I hope she can get another job outside the city.

I walk from the bedroom, to the the bathroom, to the coffee maker and then to the desk. Now that the "traffic" has cleared up from the morning rush, I'm going to take the dogs for a hike. I could hit traffic if one of the Elk herds decides to cross a street, but they have no traffic coverage on that.

Yup, caught in the Elk traffic jam the other day. If this was the East coast a lot of Elk would be shot.

About 3 miles/10 mins each way. City streets so its frustrating not being able to stretch the car's legs, but its better than sitting in traffic on the freeway

I have only totaled one Audi A4...knock on wood! (Stopped at a red light for 20 seconds, look in the rear view and see Law School Student coming about 45 mph in a 4x4 Toyota Tacoma, never hits breaks...goodbye 9 month old Audi) Thumbs up their a$$es!!!!
This, minus the wrecked Audi, and plus about 3 more miles and 6 more minutes. Damn, that was easy!

i know you are in TN, but even there a 70mi commute is going to take an hour AND be a pain in the wallet unless you drive something much more boring then the rx8

i work in software implementation. technical side. client buys my companies app/service, i help them get up and running on it.

i don't WFH all the time, only 2 days/week or when I get sick enough not to want to infect the office.

but technically I could, except for my specific team prefers we are in the office.

i can work from anywhere in the world from nearly any PC (secure VPN fob in hand)... away from 'home' i have personally worked from a bar on the beach in Hawaii, coffee shop in St Cloud MN, families house in Milwaukee, and a friends place in Nashville.

if i absolutely needed to WFH or move away from the corporate office I could WFH everyday.

    edit:
also on the 3 days i DO go to the office, i participate in a vanpool, so i am only driving 1 day of 5 per week.

I occasionally have road trips, but now-a-days it's flying most of the time. :/
