Question are 24v and 12 valve blocks the same? I blew the block out on my 2004 vr6 GTI when I ended up in a large water puddle and the intake sucked it in. So now I have a block with a hole in it somewhere. My question is I have a complete engine from a 2001-02 not sure which one but it is a 12v engine will the short block interchange, just the block only or nothing at all. Thanks any help will be appreciated. Craig ........ Also my GTI is a 6speed And the 12 valve is from a Jetta with an automatic if that makes any difference.

Headbolts moved around, cant use a 12v without major machine work. If you arent far I have a 2.8 24v block w rods/pistons (no crank) that I dont plan to use anytime soon.
