    3 main requirements:
    1) Carbon fork
    2) Rim brakes (so, someday when I play with tubeless on the road bike, the cross bike would get my current Mavic Kysrium Elite wheelset)
    3) Tiagra 10-speed (4600) --- keeping the prices down a bit... (so I can put a Deore MTB RD & 32T cassette)

...... which it seems my options are few....

Specialized and Trek seem to be out of question...

Jamis Nova Race is a 9-speed & Disc brakes (I wouldn't mind supporting a Northern Jersey company...)...

That Jamis Nova Race you mentioned in your original post is a real nice package for the money. The 2013 has the 10-speed Tiagra and BB7 brakes.

I almost pulled the trigger on that Jamis but the Civilian Vive Le Roi caught my attention.

Share your secrets! I've been peeking at some X-fires on Ebay. Almost clicked buy it now on a X-Night with Red last week

Very nice bike. I am glad that I learnt about cyclocross 2 months ago and bought one. It feels like a tank but an agile one.

Excellent choice IMHO! I got the last of the 2012 51cm with 105. Built it on Friday, rode from Sandy Hook down the coast to near Asbury Park, and then part of the Henry Hudson Trail yesterday. (Yeah, kind of lame I suppose. ) You will not be disappointed. Oh, mine's to replace my older mountain bike as a semi-commuter. I don't do mountains anymore.
