have you messed around in the audio settings on the ps3? iirc, you can turn the optical output on and off, and change it from 2.1-7.1

I have a PS3 hooked up to an old Sony 5.1 home theater system. The stereo doesn't seem to be getting sound from the digital optical cord or the RCA cords. My TV is getting sound from the system but I would prefer stereo sound. The stereo has only played in pro-logic through Sony devices and my TV is a Panasonic plasma so I would prefer to send the sound directly to the stereo receiver.
I asked this in the home theater section but I figured you guys would know a little better

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.
