Just got home from excessive drinking session with a fine bunch of fellows who have helped build our latest project, clients move in after the long weekend. Job completed on time and on budget.

Here are a few random snaps...

Bathroom tiles hand made by blind nuns in a remote convent in Morocco.
All tapware , hardware, handrails etc in raw brass, will patina. hopefully.

Budget for something similar $6500/m2 + GST.

We charge a percentage fee for our work, and are happy to educate clients in matters of taste for a small additional fee.

Ok lets see what the rest of the real world people think. Who else likes it on this house? To me it is a very modern looking house with a 60s tiles. Doesn't work for me!

That's okay, you probably won't like the front gate detail much either, shown below in etch prime, not final white....

Actually I quite like this. I prefer it in this colour though I think instead of white.

    Touche.

Only thing is, I'm fairly certain it would have been worse, if at all possible, had we kept him on.

I'm guessing your creative energy is not upset by turning up to meetings on time and keep a client's phone number.

I can manage reasonable degrees of professionalism in my old age.... phone numbers/meetings not to hard to get a handle on.

Watch how I land Wayne as a client....

Hey Wayne, even you couldn't afford this house.....

    As WAY said:

You only need one house to live in, but you should have as many cars as you can accomodate.

Unless you are born to be a project manager (and some people are) or have some other imperative for doing it yourself, spend your time doing things you're good at and leave the building to others.

You lost him at $6,500/m2 + GST

You just needed to add "negotiable", and then upsell him on the extras

    "As per drawings"

I like it, except the brass tap-ware, looks cheap IMO, perhaps a brushed aluminium would be more pleasing to my eyes.

Anything can be on time and on/in budget, especially if the estimates offered were unrealistic

Congrats on the handover Chris! Photos don't do the place justice, not the same as when you walk through it. I like everything about it, although Joelle is still blabbing on re: carpet shade...!

Are you coming to the AAP on Tuesday @3??

    No!

$6,500 p/sqm I can't afford!! But the house is a standout in many ways, and I guess if I was building my dream $7m place I couldn't care less what others thought of the Moroccan tiles!

I have seen how Russian Oligarchs do business. My good friend deals with them. Less savvy money wise than the Chinese communists officials, but really they don't care as they have so much money!

I like the color/texture/point of difference of the hexagonal tiles, I'm not a fan of the star on them... Almost like a tribute to the Australian flag... I think the fittings will look better with some oxidization.

The place looks very interesting and I'm sure it is with great pleasure you can say its all done and the clients move in this weekend.

When do we see it on Grand Designs?

    Looks good Chris,

What firm do you work for?. Looking to redo my offices in CBD. Im liking Blainey North atm but unsure.

I think I remember you once saying you did big tits Nankervis' place in CBD pre-divorce.

Some of our work is here....

    pohioadams.com

    Always looking for new commissions.

House in question is Eastern Suburbs, and it is very much a reflection of the client's requirements and some ideas. It would be boring if every project had honed limestone bathrooms, biege carpets etc.

The house is beautiful. The ribbon-like staircase is a lovely detail. Glad to see some individuality with the bathrooms - I like the change in texture from the other parts of the house and such a change to the 'mortuary mentality' to most modern bathrooms. Well done

See, Citroen owners have good taste. Never any money, but good taste.
One day I'd like a gold SM parked in the driveway...
