Do you plan each and every shot? Or do you do it as you go and figure it out in post?
Car videos are boring. if you're going to make one, be different. Do some planing and have some narrative. Oh and for the love of god, don't use a slider.
But if it's an event/meet it's almost impossible to plan every shot. There is so much going on, and opportunities that come and go that you need to be quick on your feet. IMO that's what makes a good videographer, someone that not only can think quick on their feet, but translate that into usable footage for post. You are not always going to have perfect lighting, you aren't always going to have a tripod, glidecam, jib, slider etc so it's important.
