I have an '05 passat with the halogen headlight assembly. While attempting to change out a bulb, I seem to have pushed too hard and inadvertently dislodged the internal "chrome" piece that holds the bulbs in place. Now the inside part of the headlamp assembly moves freely. With the assembly completely off, can I unhook the clear plastic and remove it to repair the inner workings of the headlamp assembly? Or do I need to purchase a new headlamp?

I have no personal experience with a b5 light, but every other headlight I've come across has had the cover glued in place (to prevent leaking water). So you'll probably have to bake the lights as some do when doing a "Joey mod" too loosen the glue.
