Just wondering, much did they charge you for everything + pickup? I used to like Kaizen but they're a bit expensive and slow in responding back. Especially John that ****ing idiot.

Happy Saturday all!
I am going to make this short and sweet and yes I promise to make a video and get pics (clueless how to upload).
I got my car back from Kaizen Tuning on Thursday to get the APR stage 1. For starters, again anyone in the MA area this is a great company and The guys at APR should be happy to know how well these guys take care of cars and their service. They picked my car up in their enclosed trailer and brought it up to their facilities.
Turn around on the ECU was so quick. Went out Monday and came back Wednesday. For those that have not done this upgrade or are contemplating who to go with..this is a no brainer.
What a difference this has made with the other mods on the car to date. I am shocked as to how fast this car is and can't even imagine what stage 2 or 3 is like. In 3rd gear on the highway at 60 yesterday there was light traffic so I said what the hell..from what I clocked on the timer in the car, 60-100 happened in 3.61 seconds!! I know need pictures to justify.
The car feels like it needs wheelie bars as the backed just squats so hard at acceleration. Best of all it feels like a NA engine. No turbo lag whatsoever. Even if you have the car in high gear (4th) at 45mph it gets up and goes.
Now this car finally has the engine performance to back up the great sound from the Switch Patch system.
Lastly, I stopped at my Audi dealer this week as they were doing a Stasis/VF supercharger on an r8 V10. The car is owned by a famous baseball player in Boston (won't disclose). But I had the tech take that car out and the TTrS as a comparison and from 0-80 he said the TTRS was the faster car..after that though the R8 will eat the TT.
We did a quick run and it was proven that the TT accelerated faster to 60..keep in mind the R8 had the R tronic.
Anyways I will get a video up of the sound and acceleration in the next day or so.. APR well done!! Not get cracking in those DP so I can get this to stage 2!!!
Becuase of this new found power, I ended up buying a S/C for my E90 M3 yesterday...the M needs to keep pace now!
Thanks for reading and if you are undecided who to go with, this tune from APR is a must have investment!

Charged for shipping the ECU, transport was 100 (considering I live an hour 1 way I'll take it and no mileage or traffic for me to deal with). Yes if it's John I think u are talking of he can be a bit slow in the driveway, but I'm a persistent PITA so things get done! Haha! I have been pretty happy and labor was not bad at all. I only paid for boost mount install and ECU labor.
I don't know when you last dealt but it has been a good experience. I think they have to go through a third party on some products (AWE definitely did) so that can be a challenge.
Bottom line everything was delivered and executed when I was told and the products have been incredible.

I can tell you that stage 2 is pretty impressive. I have GIAC tune but I'm sure it is quite similar amongst the tuners. This car can hang with the big dogs!

I should be getting delivery of a 2013 TTRS in early December. Should you wait for the stage 1 program till after breaki-in? What about warranty work with the re-program including normal service ? Sounds like great performance for the cost.

It really is quite shocking with how power this car becomes with just some good programming. I'm in the IT industry so I can definitely appreciate the hard work and hours that go into coding. Granted its a little different but the concept is the same. Truly a special gift and great job these tuners have. Making drivers smile and passengers s***ing their pants!
Made a quick stop at a friends tonight who has a 1m and he could not believe how powerful and quick the car was. This person also has a gt3 4.0 fully race prepped. So that's a huge compliment to us TTRS guys!

Love posts like these!! Glad everything is as expected and even better than expected! Are you happy with the sound of the new exhaust?
I'll be going APR S2, APR down pipe hopefully soon. Trying to hold out for their Stage 3 install with a trip to AL, but posts like these don't help! Haha
Enjoy the new thrill ride!

I really think that you should enjoy the car in its stock form for a while before going to Stage 1. It'll give you a much better appreciation for the added power.
The car is by no means a slouch in stock form. Get it and enjoy it for a while! When you get used to the ridiculous power, go stage 1 and you'll be all smiles again.

I concur. I started at about 1,500 miles. Haven't stopped smiling or modding. The car is back with AWE for more development work.

I could not agree more to tuning the car in stages, but everyone is different. For me when I buy new cars, I need to learn the capabilities of the vehicle in its purest for
And since this was my first turbo car, it has been quite a learning curve for me. I have been so used to high revving NA engines that for me it did take some time to adjust.
Now with the modifications to the vehicle to date, the car has a whole new level of abilities, but what I have definitely noticed is that I am unsure the suspension geometry is now on par with this power. Could also be the roads in my area are just so incredibly unbalanced that with quicker exceleration it just pronounces the imperfections in the road more.
I believe for stage 2, it will require a pretty good list of bolt on modifications (IC, full turbo back/HFC/secondary cat delete, and a catback system if you want to get better tone out of this 5 cylinder).
Took another friend yesterday who races BMWs in a quick ride and got a similar response of "holy hell this pulls..". That it does my friend.
HFC came in yesterday!! Thank you APR!! Getting installed next week!
Sorry for no pics or vids guys...weather has been too crappy up here lately

Pretty sure stg 2 only requires downpipe. I also remember reading that the stock exhaust (sport/non) is not very restrictive.

Not really. For APR, it is the other way around...if you use their DP, you must use stage 2 because it ignores the O2 sensors. Otherwise you'll trigger a CEL. Either way, you will not pass readiness tests if your state emissions require it.
I'm running GIAC stage 2 with OEM DP. I believe their stage 2 is optimized for FMIC and CB exhaust but the OEM exhaust isn't that restrictive so I'm not sure if that is even a requirement.
My advice is to ask each tuner what is needed.
