I been trying to get blocks 034 and 035 to work for the passed 2 days and i did the foot on brake, gas pedal, on.steps and nothing. Just keeps saying error. Same for the readiness test.

I ended checking the dtc and it said mysteriously out of no where my engine control module was faulty. Never had that issue before. I clear it and it never came back. But now im still stuck trying to run block 034. Whats the deal?

Btw the vag com forum is a ghost town. Posted in vein in there.

So i got it to work but check this out....

Instead of on/brake/gas, this never started test, i tried on/gas/brake and it started right up for 034 and 035.

Now when i went to do blocks 046 & 047 in basic settings, i get an error unavailable with in 2-3 secs. Basically i cant test them. Now as for the 01 engine Readiness test, i cant get the cat to start the test.

Graeme? Powerdubs? Gurus? John? Anyone with vag com testing experiance? What am i not doing right? Also i know that block 034 must be done before block 046 can start test.

Im getting a new maf tomorrow so i hope that its just that causing the rest to fault. :/

I got the o2 sensor test to work but i cant get the CATS to test. Also in readiness test my sai system, my cats and.pre cat o2 say unavailable. I assume readiness is for the smog technicians? Im do for smog test next month and im afraid i wount pass without these passing. :/

NO CEL AT ALL! WTH??? by the way i just found a leak just before this test and fixed it cleared the code then went for a drive to prepare the readiness test and i still cannot get the CAT to test.

ALSO... my MAF hasnt come in yet so im still waiting to install that and hope this clears most of this crap up

yeah, i blieve it will clear 'most' of it, the valve and ground codes I don't recall seeing on my bad MAF journey in life.

short to ground is the flapper mod switch i added, no CEL but always have the code. i havent found anyone local to code it out though

So i found another vaccum leak :p. And fixed it...... scanned the car and had all other codes cleared and a new one popped up

19627/ p3171. Lean limit exceeded? I found literally nothing on this code. Ever come across it? Its not in the tex search :/

1. First one i found.... This is on the breather hose next to the tb
2. Another under tb on evap valve? Its literally a little line that gets worn.
3. Latest one.... This one was under the change over valve pumpkin like thing near the front. Its the hose under it that is another braded type.

read somewhere that after running a bad maf for a long time, the car adapts to it, and needs
to be cleared of such adaptation, so you throw the same codes or worse when running a new MAF.

I always cleared all codes, ran a couple of TB alignments before starting her up, cleared any codes after start up, take her for a good drive, let her adjust some. Sometimes I would get a weird code, clear it, and that usually would be the end of it.

Above happened recently on a friends Golf, the MAF was BAD and the car took the new MAF
oddly...

How did it fail? Is that sucker clean and clear, nothing obstructing it's operation? How many miles?

Redid everything again and got the codes cleared and got the tb alignment done. Took it for a drive and all was good till i get another CEL. I scanned it and got p2177 and p2179. System too lean off idle. ?

so, both banks are lean, and it seems that there is an actual leak somewhere, still.

i would unplug battery overnight, plug back on, clear codes before starting, even if none present,
do a TB align again (and wait that 30 seconds!) and clear codes even if none present. turn on,
let idle for a while, secondary kicks on? cel come on? drive and see what happens.

maybe all the above is stupid, but why not...

So i spent the weekend looking for leaks and none. :/ i also have yet to get a code again after clearing the p2179 and p2177 codes. Now to move to the helicopter engine noise i posted. Ill keep tabs on this post since there is not much info and sumone else may go through this.

Well how about that, i passed.

All codes checked out ok and no dtc on memory. This thread is now closed for me but if anyone needs some pointers feel free to hmu and referance this thread if need be.

nvm the codes came back again along with the CEL. search countinues
