Thread: VAG dyno day - interesting results?

  1. 10-07-2012 06:03 AM #36
I ran my .:R32 on a awd mustang dyno and pulled 201 hp in hot Dallas. I have apr tune and cai and
    Exhaust...

Bmwgtiman is a local R (2.0t) owner and he didn't dyno with me but we did several highway pulls and neither pulled...we were right next to each other in gear for about 20 mph of acceleration

So I guess it's possible all my mods could put me up to stock R numbers...seeing as a highway pull was same

Or if you have a mkv, the dsg allowed you to keep up.. there's not that much to be gained with the r32 and simple mods

    2010 Mk6 GTI - EvoMS intake + EvoMS stg1 software = 251 whp, 273 wtq on a Mustang Dyno.
Recently installed B&B 3" catted dp and went EvoMS stg2, expecting to make about 290ish whp and about 320 wtq once I get around to dyno'ing again (too damn hot right now)

Yeah, you MIGHT see a 20whp/wtq gain with a DP/Tune. Probably closer to the 10-15whp/wtq range though.

Plus, your numbers don't really relate to ours.. all the numbers posted here are on the exact same dyno over three dyno days.

I'm also curious about 2 things:

    1. why are the tie-down straps not crossed, less chance of the car hopping off that way...
    2. why does there appear to be no positive airflow to the front of the car on the straight FWD cars? (big brick wall right in front)

They had stage 1 flash only. Both of them have downpipes but were flashed stage 1 before the downpipes were installed. GIAC has not released their stage 2 flash as of today. We have the HPFP on order and will install the new fuel pumps, but will be waiting for GIAC to provide the stage 2 flash.

As soon as stage 2 flash is available we will have the R's re-flashed and then provide some additional dyno numbers as well.

Now, whenever I get VW to solve my random misfires on all 5 cylenders and I finally build this 2013 --THAT will sound much meaner than it really is. It'll be tons of bark and 230WHP of bite tops LOL.

Finally getting around to updating things. I'll update your numbers but I only had it listed like that since that's the run I got a video for (didn't want people saying "your post says ____ but the video shows ______" Please send a carrier pigeon and notify Scott that you have read this post.

R32 sounds exotic and powerful, but it's less powerful than a stock 2.0T.

The VR6 sounds like the NA 6 cylinder that it is. FI will always be quieter and more powerful.

most would disagree on the VR6 sound, and i think you're missing the point here - he also agreed on the FI being quieter and more powerful.

What's the point I'm missing? It sounds like a V6 and loses more power to the wheels b/c of the halidex. Of course it growls and of course it's slower than a proper FI setup.

BTW I also said that I think a GTI is sleeper quiet. That's a complement.

I agree with you, not matter the numbers on different dyno's, it will be just as fast/slow as before. But looking at some of the numbers for the MKVI GTI's and the cost of the mods they did and are only realisticly making 30-40 more hp over stock....makes me want to think twice about getting a tune..CAI...exhaust....etc..

K04 is the only real way to push big numbers on a GTI.

40 whp and 65 wtq is a very significant difference.. 20% whp and 32% wtq gain over stock for pretty cheap.
