Thread: Replacing rear shock mounts when doing suspension?

  1. 09-30-2012 04:51 AM #1
Cant seem to find any info on this anywhere.

I am about to replace my shocks/springs and have already purchased new front strut mounts and bearings but am wondering if I should be replacing the rears as well. Car is at 110,000kms.

Also, what is the difference between part numbers ending in H, R & G?

    These:

i didnt bother on mine. the bushings looked just fine at 60K american miles. what is a Km? LOL.
but check the rubber bushings for cracks or damage.

of course, sounds like you want to have the parts on hand before the swap. I suppose for the extra bucks, you get some peace of mind of not having to take it apart again to fix a worn mount.

what suspension are you going with?

I'd be much more concerned about the front mounts than the rears. Not a sex joke.

Agreed on the fronts. I didn't bother with mine because car only had 14k miles on it when they were installed. However, I wish I did as they creak a little from a stand still and over bumps and with proper mounts they wouldn't make any noise.

ECS sells these and for the $89 they are well worth it in my mind.

This is a picture of their rear kit

Depends on how long you plan on keeping the car. If it is another 50k miles I would prefer to just replace the rears also. You're already spending a lot of money on parts and an alignment (at least $800???). I can't see a good reason to not replace bushings that have 60k miles on them and definately aren't what they used to be. What do they cost?

I always do bushings when they come out. They're cheap and easy and I HATE when suspension rattles over bumps. I think the rears are less than $40 a side? Something like that. To me, totally worth it.
