Brake light as in Pad wear sensor, or ABS , or low fluid level, or parking brake on?
#1
hello I have swapped a vr6t in my mk1 rabbit used mk4 ecu and cluster. it fired rite up on first try. the issue I am having is the brake warning on the cluster that is from a 2000 mk4. is their a way to disable this by grounding the wire or using a resistor

The abs. It beeps verry loud and says stop check service manual. The other lights are on but i can hook them int my wiring and they will go off. I cant wait to see how it pulls. It is stage 3 with limjiited slip diff.

did you hook up the rear wheel speed sensors? if not..then why even put the ABs in? it has no target value..it sees the rear wheel spinning and the front is the same..all good, if it sees rear spinning and front not..it applies abs..if it has no signal...it has no idea what's going on.
other than that...did you use the entire MKIV brake system front and rear and master cylinder,etc,etc...wired up traction control, etc?

no I did not use any of the Mk4 brake system at all. I am wanting to delete the warning from the cluster. will this affect anything now that the ecu is not seeing any signal from the brake system or the traction control.
#6
yup, if you have the ABS in the car..it will go nuts. if your not running any MKIV stuff...how do you have ABS at all?
do you have any deletes? VSS patch, what trans, immo defeat (if needed). what brakes are on the car? details...

factory brakes from the rabbit. keep in mind this annoying sound and warning sign will happen even if the ecu is disconnected. soon as you turn on ignition switch. my daughters Passat did this same thing when her ABS unit had to be rebuilt. her car ran fine but the sound would drive you crazy. vss is all hooked up since I will need it for speedometer and ecu.

Keep in mind all i am wanting to know is is thier a way to delete the abs warning from the cluster and if so will it affect the performance of the engine (limp mode) also traction control will not be in the system at all any more. Will this affect any performance. If it turns out a nightmare then i may go megasquirt. Just thought i would tfy the factory ecu since it has been reflashed to stage 3 and immobilizer deleted

i wouldn't have run the cluster, etc. such a hassle anymore with all teh otehr options
i got a VSS patch with my ECU software, i run a custom manual cable for the speedo(soon GPS) and i didn't even bother putting in ABS..fuk that.
i am running racelogic traction control, launch control and flat shift though....but it isn't quite fnished.

all the responses and no straight up answer. I did get my answer from a member of our car club. no it will not affect the way the engine runs so I will handle it from here thank you. I can see why so many people down the Vortex. you ask a yes or no question and someone will take 5 minuets to type some BS of how they think you should do it. have a great day

oh, my bad, i was trying to trouble shoot a question.
my bad for actually trying to gather info as to see if canceling the light on the dash is smart due to the possibility of doings things WRONG. thus causing issues...
oh wait, i have no clue what i'm talking baout...my bad. eff you, if you respond this way for genuine help, then i can only imagine the ****storm that is your swap. next time, ill just give you the answer you want to hear. instead of using my background as a dealer tech and after market tech to give you the best answer instead of just a yes or no. eat a dik

Op, dick kind of reply, but i do believe it can be coded out of the ecm, cluster and other modules that need that info. been awhile since i did that stuff, but im almost positive it can be done.
