Thread: Fox parts compatibility

  1. 09-30-2012 04:08 PM #1
Would a 94 fox's parts be compatible with a 94 golf? I found a fox for like 300 , with some problems, but im thinking about using it for parts.

No such thing as a 94 Fox, at least in North America. The short answer though is no, almost nothing would be even usable on a 1994 Golf.

If it runs and drives -- like any other car that runs and drives -- it's worth $400.

It's a Fox II, 91-93. Good chance it's a 93, seeing how it's got the Wolfsburg badge (most 93's were "Wolfsburg")

The cosmetics are a bit of a bummer, but it's hard to go lower than that price for any working car.

I wonder how many miles it's got on it and why the owner thinks it might need a new clutch. If it does, hopefully that's something you can do on your own. Otherwise, it's $$$. There's a good chance the shifter linkage bushings need replacing is all. People tend to relate a poor shifter to a bad clutch for some reason. That'd be a fairly simple and cheap job.

It looks like it's missing the door trim piece for two of the doors and the VW emblem on the grill. Somehow it's a GL Wolfsburg that has the passenger side blank plate instead of a mirror. I actually like that, since you get great visibility in the Fox anyway, and may stand to gain an mpg on the highway

I wonder if that black paint is original. Don't have any reason to suspect otherwise except that I've somehow never seen a black Fox before. Hopefully it cleans up nicely.

It's missing the interior light dimmer, so if the interior gauge lights don't work, it's easy to jump the plug or find another dimmer from a junkyard.

I've seen both a Fox and a Fox II in black before. Coincidentally, both were also four doors.
