    Winter Wheel Question

    I was thinking of getting some steelies for winter wheels. I have a 2012 GTI with 18x8, 5x112 factory wheels now. Can I put on 16x7.5 steelies?? This way I can go with a tire with a little more meat on it thats not as wide and is a lot cheaper to buy all around. Will I have enough brake clearance?

    16 will clear the brakes. Make sure they are around 45 offset and you will be golden.

    What did you end up getting? I have a 2012 autobahn and I want a winter set as well.

    I didn't get anything yet. I was go to go to Tire Rack but I would have to pickup at their warehouse. I really don't feel like driving to Conn or Virginia from NJ. Trying to find closer options but everyone is double the price. Still looking.

    Shipping is pretty reasonable, I'm here on Long Island and got tires last year for my retired Acura TL Type S, and I spent under $600 for all four with shipping.
