87 wagoneer. rattlecanned green. 4.0 auto runs/drives good.

for a 1990 lincoln town car.
v8 runs/drives good. auto comes with a upgraded stereo. Tires are better then the jeeps. and 300 cash

Wagoneer never came with a 4.0... do mean an XJ Cherokee with the Wagoneer trim?

    Either way no.

It was actually called the Jeep Wagoneer in those years, IIRC (it was a facelifted XJ Cherokee but it wasn't sold as a "Cherokee Wagoneer").

I see a pretty even split here. But I wouldn't bother giving up $300. Unelss they're giving you $300? Seeing as how it's going into winter I'd keep the Jeep for now anyway.

We have VERY mild winters here.. And they are giving me 300 which easily could pay for the chains to get through the winter.. Most we get is some ice on the road..

So I test drove it. It has the 5.0 mustang motor in it with a CAI, exhaust, few other things. Ran drove great. Tranny shifted great. Only issue is a dent in the front bumper.

My jeep runs and drives decent. The lincoln is faster, stops better, handles better, rides better, has a better system, and everything works. can't say the same for the jeep lol.

still debating about it. most likely going to do it though..

btw my jeep has 290k miles the lincoln has 170k. My tires are bald lincolns are new.

    Wagoneer

    Grand Wagoneer

    Know the difference.

You could also argue the XJ Wagoneer morphed into the Country Edition as well.

I'd keep the Jeep based on everything. Whats the town car got that the jeep doesn't?

Usually when I have a Jeep that does this with a 4.0L I keep it for relatively problem free driving.

    A brief history:

The wagoneer was the first in the 60s, then the xj wagoneer came out and the old 60s wagoneer became the grand wagoneer.

Separately, the old 70s Cherokee was replaced with the xj Cherokee in 1984. Then a bigger model intended to replace the Cherokee (but didn't) was called the grand Cherokee.

The original Grand Wagoneer was stopped (1991), and the zj grand Cherokee was facelifted into the grand wagoneer (zj). That only lasted one year (1993).

    Makes sense.

In the 4x4 world, a Wagoneer refers to the fullsize model only (popular for axle swaps into other rigs) and an XJ Wagoneer is still a Cherokee.
