Hi
thought the WWII enthusiasts would like to see this
It's the only flying Mosquito in the World, has just been restored in NZ for an American owner.
Cheers

If it's not foggy

you are a doofus.

If Im not mistaken their goal was also as close to 100% accuracy on the restoration as possible.
What a wonderful sight and sound.

Pardon my historical ignorance if I'm wrong, but wasn't it a Mosquito that took down the Bismark?
Very cool to see one fly.

Correct. Thanks.
The destruction of Hood spurred a relentless pursuit by the Royal Navy involving dozens of warships. Two days later, while heading for the relative safety of occupied France, Bismarck was attacked by Fairey Swordfish torpedo bombers from the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal; one hit was scored that rendered the battleship's steering gear inoperable. The following morning, Bismarck was destroyed by a pair of British battleships. The cause of her sinking is disputed: some in the Royal Navy claim that torpedoes fired by the cruiser HMS Dorsetshire administered the fatal blow, while German survivors argue that they scuttled the ship. In June 1989, Robert Ballard discovered the wreck. Several other expeditions surveyed the remains seeking to document the ship's condition and to determine what sank her.

I LOVE it when these birds are brought back to life and flown! But it kills me when the really rare ones are crashed like this Super Corsair. Absolutely nothing against the pilot/restorer, but I'd be willing to bet that 99.99% of airshow spectators would be more than pleased just to watch ten or so flybys of that bird with no acro. For those not familiar with Race 74, it was saved from destruction by Walter Soplata, along with a bunch of other super rare warbirds, and was one of only 3 surviving Super Corsairs- two of which Bob restored.

Not sure if Weeks still has his but I remember our house being buzzed often by his glorious Mosquito in Miami.
Video comments suggest it's in static display at Oshkosh. Pretty much the single greatest noise I have ever heard![]()
