SE Wisconsin fall cruise official sign up

When: Saturday October 20th

What: A spirited drive through approximately 140 miles of Wisconsin rustic roads throughout the kettle moraine national forest.

Where: The cruise starts at a location near Menominee Falls Wisconsin. The exact location will be e-mailed to those who sign up. The cruise ends at Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin. The end point of the cruise is approximately 1.5 hours north of Milwaukee.

How Long will it take: The entire cruise takes about anywhere between 4-6 hours to complete, depending on how many times we stop, weather, etc. The cruise does cross Hwy 41/45 at several points, so if you need to leave earlier, have car troubles, or whatever other reason... there are a couple points where you can drop out. Also when the cruise is over, there are typically groups headed back to both Milwaukee and Madison that you can follow, but have a GPS or directions back home from Road America if you live somewhere else.

What should you expect/ How does this work: The entire cruise is on paved public roads. Most of the roads are state designated as rustic or scenic 2 lane roads. Lots of twists and turns, lots of beautiful scenery. Many of the roads have posted speed limits of 25-45mph. This is not a race, if you are tailgating the car in front of you or doing things that are unsafe, someone will ask you to leave. There will be different groups you will be able to choose from the day of the event. Modified cars to stock/diesel/air cooled. Each group will have a lead car that knows the route. Follow the car in front of you at an appropriate distance, make sure the car behind you can always see you so they dont get lost... pretty much that simple. Any car should be able to participate so long as it's in good mechanical condition.

Food/Lunch- There is one planned stop for lunch in Dundee WI. This place ONLY TAKES CASH!!! So bring cash. The menu is greasy (but delicious) burgers/Hot dogs/fries/shakes. If you dont eat unhealthy food, you need to pack a lunch. This is a very reasonably priced outdoor restaurant. $6-10 a person easily gets it done.

Some other thoughts from having done a bunch of times before:
-Gas-Come with a full tank of gas. There are gas stations at the exit where the cruise will start, but only a few gas station along the route. There are no planned stops for gas.
-Junk in the trunk. Dont have your bowling ball, golf clubs, or other stuff in the trunk. It will drive you absolutely crazy banging around back there. Also clean out trash under seats. Had a guy one year have an empty water bottle come out from under the seats and right under the brake pedal... was exciting, but not something he'd want to repeat.
-Your girlfriend and your dog. If your girlfriend has ever in her life mentioned car sickness to you, then you're not going to want to bring her. Also it has been tried before, and dogs in the car don't do particularly well. Seen several try but only seen one person make it all the way through with a dog.
-Tires/maintenance... dont put your winter tires on yet.... the tires you do have need to be inflated and have tread on them. check the car over and do some maintenance before the run.

If it is raining (or snowing) on Saturday, the cruise may be postponed to Sunday or cancelled all together. You will receive instructions in the e-mail after you sign up on how we will communicate if the cruise will be run or not.

There is a practice run tomorrow Sunday October 7th.
I think because of the dry summer, the leaves have changed colors early, so it's really nice out there right now.
8:30am roll out from mc donalds, hwy 41 and county line road, Menominee falls.

See plenty of lowered cars each year. We do cross some railroad tracks which require some of the low cars to do the 1mph at an angle thing. All public roads, all paved. Frequently we encounter debris on the road like sticks, gravel, etc.
