MkIV Jetta H&R rear sway bar interferes with APR muffler

Hi All, I have a 2001 Jetta 1.8 with a turbo-back APR 2.5" exhaust. I added an H&R rear sway bar (non adjustable 25mm) and it seems to hit the sway bar when the suspension bottoms (over speedbumps, railroad tracks, etc). There's a pretty significant overlap between the two and appears as though they are pretty much incompatible. The interference occurs where the sway bar makes an L-bend toward the shock mount- this hits the front left corner of the muffler. Has anyone else run into this? If so, how did you resolve it?
