Replacement Driver's Seat for '84 GTI

Hello, everyone!

I've got a question for you. I bought a 1984 Rabbit GTI this summer, and she's something of a project car. To get her licensed, I need to pass safety inspections, and in her current state, that's not going to happen. One of the more prominent things I need to replace is the driver's seat-- the previous owner has two passenger seats up front.

I've been calling my local auto parts places to see if they've got any old VW seats by chance, but I haven't had any luck. So, I was wondering-- is there another car seat other than a GTI one that would be relatively compatible? Or do I just need to keep looking for the original seat?

any mk1 and mk2 seat will work,
corrado and scirocco seats will too but sit lower (good if you are tall)
mk3 seats wont work the rails are not the same width
